Review summary

This was a terrific cruise from beginning to end. No disappointments! The Queen Elizabeth is an amazing ship with an amazingly dedicated crew who treat all the passengers as if they were royalty! It was very difficult leaving the ship and returning to reality!

Embarkation

Embarkation was a breeze. Absolutely no hassles!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Ships main dining room on the Queen Elizabeth was like going to a Michelin Starred Resturant every night! The food was delicious and the service even better! Each and every person was treated as if they were royalty!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We would go to the pool most every day and read, swim or enjoy the jacuzzi! They had a wide variety of different types of activities on board, which were geared toward our age set.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The entertainment was fantastic. The actors, singers, dancers and musicians provided professional and extremely entertaining shows each evening! There was a wonderful variety of shows which made it fun to go each evening. The afternoon concerts and lectures were equally as entertaining and informative. The Afternoon Tea was a show in itself and lots of fun to go to each day!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Excellent service from all the ships personnel, you truly couldn’t ask for more! Our room steward, Willie, kept our room spotless, and had ice in the bucket each and every day. He was always pleasant and polite, and extremely helpful! I really miss the pampering he provided us. As for our waiters, OMG, they were outrageously good. Pulled out our seats, placed our napkins on our laps, kept the water glasses full, and got us anything, and everything we asked for, wether it was on the menu or not! They are hard working and extremely dedicated. The crew that worked with us was a great asset to Cunard! They were always pleasant, never complained, and nothing was too much trouble!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
We loved the ships design because we averaged a little over a mile walking each day, which we definitely could use. Everything was easy to get to and the shops, casino, bars were centrally located. As for cleanliness, you could not ask for a cleaner environment! The ship felt cozy for something a 1,000 feet long!

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabin was well set up, but a tad too tight! Would love to have had a little more room. The same cabin we had on the Queen Mary, felt much larger than this one. That said, the cabin was comfortable and kept cleaned and well stocked. The bed was extremely comfortable!

Ship tip

You’ll be tempted to over pack because of the formal dinners, but don’t! There is lots of closet space, but very little shelf/drawer space.

Ports of call

San Francisco, California

5 out of 5
Loved it! Fisherman’s Wharf is a must see, as is the sour dough bread with chowder!

Los Angeles, California Did not visit port

Stayed aboard! In my opinion, Long Beach, where the ship docked, was to far from LA to do a tour justice. However, we did get to watch the 4th of July fireworks Stern to the Queen Mary! Wow, was that neat!

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

5 out of 5
Had a great boat/land tour. The rock formations were indescribably beautiful! Even had a sea lion sitting on a rock posing for all of us. A little tuff getting back and forth to the ship since we had to use tenders, and the seas were uncooperative!

Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala Did not visit port

Stayed on board the ship.

Puntarenas, Costa Rica

Absolutely wonderful bus/train/river boat tour through the area. Our guide spoke flawless English and was extremely knowledgeable about his surroundings. They served us drinks and snacks on the train, stopped at a souvenir shop and had fresh fruit and coffee, even got to see some dances by the locals in costume. The river boat ride through the Mangrove Jungle was very interesting, unfortunately, it poured rain and we were unable to see the crocodiles, monkeys, , and colorful birds! Definitely the tour to book!

Fuerte Amador, Panama

My husband loved the tour of the Mireflores Locks! We took a bus tour of the city and were amazed at how much infrastructure the US left Panama 🇵🇦 after giving the Canal back to them per our treaty. Everything left was utilized by the Panamanian government for schools, universities, housing and offices. It was a very interesting place to visit, and the skyline of Panama City was unexpected and unbelievable!

Panama Canal Transit

5 out of 5
OMG! The transit through the Panama Canal was unbelievable, amazing, impressive and any other adjective you can think of!

Oranjestad, Aruba

5 out of 5
We took a Land/semi- submersible Excursion. Due to the murkiness of the water it was tough to see the ship wreck, but still was interesting. It was fun to be on the water and our tour guide was terrific! The bus part was great! The Island of Aruba is beautiful, especially the many beaches! My husband especially enjoyed talking to the guide. We were surprised at how Aruba has become such a large resort area with all the hotels, casinos and high risers.

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida Did not visit port

Stayed on boat, but enjoyed watching the idiots in their boats on the inland waterway driving the Police and Coast Guard crazy maintaining the QE’s security zone!

New York, New York

5 out of 5
This was our disembarkation point, so we took no excursions! But, we thoroughly enjoyed the trip into NY Harbor and the view of the Statue of Liberty at dawn!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Could not have been made any easier. The use of NY’s Longshoremen made departing the ship, with all our luggage a breeze!

I love the Cunard ships! Queen Victoria was lovely and we are sailing on the Queen Elizabeth from Shanghai to Tokyo next April. They are a cut above the rest IMO!
