Review summary

Lovely itinerary with the benefit of Mediterranean sunshine too. We sailed through the Messina straits which separate Italy and Sicily during the day and had wonderful views.

Embarkation

Used the parking service so dropped the car and went though very smoothly and easily at Ocean terminal

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Britannia dining for breakfast, lunch and dinner was typically good. Great service. Good choice of food. Lido area is more informal and people can pile up platefuls - a bit off putting at times!

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
lots To do. We enjoyed the quizzes.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
We enjoyed the music around the ship. Evening entertainment was ok but not special.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Excellent service on board from all staff.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Clean - odd bits where the ships needs a repaint have been left, we assumed because it’s due a refit in the next two weeks.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
This is an inside deluxe room. It was much nicer than we had hoped- large and square shaped. Obviously no window but well lit. Much nicer layout than a standard ocean view.

Ports of call

Cadiz (Seville), Spain

4 out of 5
Easy to walk around by yourself. Fantastic ramparts to visit - all free!

Messina, Sicily

Horrible - dirty, full of street sellers. We took a trip to Taormina which was beautiful.

Venice, Italy

5 out of 5
Fabulous port. Lots to see and do. Very busy. Wonderful sail away too.

Hvar, Croatia

3 out of 5
Small but very pretty port. Lovely walk up to castle to get a great view. Didn’t have local currency so couldn’t go in though. We also walked along the water front to the point and also to the monastery. All enjoyable.

Dubrovnik, Croatia

5 out of 5
An amazing port. Visited by boat and were amazed at the architecture. Incredibly busy - 7 ships were in that day.

Cagliari, Sardinia

4 out of 5
Unexpectedly great. We walked up to the botanic gardens and amphitheatre then onto the old quarter which is a maze of narrow streets on the hilltop. We followed a walk publicised on an information board and found lots to see.

Gibraltar (U.K.)

5 out of 5
Iconic port. Fabulous views and very friendly tour guide who took us to the cable car, cave and siege tunnels. We also shopped - but found the duty free at the terminal had the best prices for what we wanted (perfume).
