Review summary

This was my first cruise since June of 2018 and it was so good to be back! I wondered how things would be since the pandemic but not much had changed. Other than all the staff wearing masks, everything was relatively the same. Royal Caribbean did it again and I'm so glad I'm Loyal to Royal. They have never let me down!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was very easy. I was concerned because I was hearing how horrible it was in weeks past. We had a junior suite but they didn't seem to care. Just shuffled us into the main line. It didn't really bother me because we all got on within 30 minutes but it was just odd because I heard others were able to be expedited because of a suite the same day

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Very good food all around. Sorrentos, Windjammer, and main dining room. Decided to switch it up and have breakfast in the main dining room one morning and it was great! The only thing that was subpar was room service. Got it twice, one morning in Skagway when we had to be off the ship super early for our excursion as well as an evening my mom skipped dinner as she wasn't feeling well and items were missing as well as not really getting quality items. Not a huge deal as room service is rarely used if at all

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
They had a lot of onboard activities but watch out for any limitations if it's an outdoors activity. They will close if it's too cold outside

Entertainment

4 out of 5
We saw the comedian at welcome show and farewell show and he was very good. He had two different sets for those shows and I was in stitches the entire time. Sequins and Feathers I also really enjoyed but it is an adult show so just be mindful of that as I saw a lot of kids at the show and 95% walked out partway through. Starwater I couldn't get into. It was very weird and seemed to have 15 storylines put into one show. The dancers were all very talented though

Children's Programs

1 out of 5
No children- Had to give one star because it wouldn't let me submit with N/A

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Great service everywhere. Guest services, room stewards, main dining room, Windjammer, shops, and Sorrentos!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship is absolutely stunning. And for it being almost 10 years old it looks like it's been in service a couple of weeks

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was spacious which is great as it was a junior suite. The pull out was very uncomfortable and hard which I hated to see because in prior cruises I loved sleeping on the couch as it was so comfortable. Might be the ship or just my comfort level of my bed changing over the years. My mom said the bed was also uncomfortable but whenever I would lounge on it, the bed felt firm but more comfortable than mine. Some nights it felt like I was sleeping on cement

Ship tip

Be patient with your servers and staff onboard. They are stretched thin, and ships haven't been at full capacity in awhile so give them some grace. The staff on my sailing never showed they were stretched too thin or they were shortstaffed

Ports of call

Skagway, Alaska

5 out of 5
Skagway was such a cute town! If it wasn't so secluded from society I would love to live there. They only have one clinic so more serious injuries have to be flown to Juneau. They also had one red building and one green because I learned that the residents were very poor so they had to work right off the bat. Couldn't go to school. So as they got older they didn't know how to read from lack of schooling so they color coded all of their buildings. The red and green ones are the only ones left. A lot of history here and oh so pretty. We did the train and it did not disappoint! The most beautiful scenery I have ever seen!

Victoria, British Columbia

5 out of 5
Victoria is so pretty! So interesting to learn their way of life, the history, etc. We got in at 4pm so a lot of stores were closed downtown as it was a Sunday but the guide told us that there were plenty more that were open. We didn't get to visit any stores though. We did a city bus tour had stopped us at Mount Tolmie which had fantastic views of the city as well as a pitstop at Tim Horton's for doughnut holes, and coffee or hot chocolate. Both were phenomenal!

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

5 out of 5
I didnt get off but what was in their "town" looked really nice and I would love to explore in the future

Seattle, Washington

5 out of 5
Beautiful city but had lots of homeless around. Other than the homeless people I always felt safe and never had concerns or fears in any uber which is unlike me because I'm a nervous wreck in Florida 🤣

Juneau, Alaska

5 out of 5
Loved Juneau! Had that small town feel even though it's the capital. We went on a whale watching tour and saw a lot of whales including a baby jumping out of the water more than 20x. Even the guides were stunned as this type of behavior is very rare to see and we got extremely lucky. It was breathtaking!

CRUISE ENDICOTT ARM & DAWES GLACIER

5 out of 5
We weren't able to get into the canal because of all the ice in the water which is not Royal's fault. They can't control the weather but we still got some good views of the glacier. The ship did a 360 so both sides could see it

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Disembarkation was quick and organized with the staff all on the same page with how to shuffle people out
