Review summary

The scenery was beautiful but the ship was understaffed and not up to the standards we expected.

Embarkation

1 out of 5
complete chaos and took us over 2.5 hours to board the ship. once we entered the building (after over 2 hours in line) there was no direction to the suite line so we waited again & did not get an upgraded service we were entitled to.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
food often arrived cold but was ok in the main dining room. Specialty restaurants were better but only one (Jamie Oliver's) was very good. we did not eat at the buffets.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The i-fly was fun. The northstar was a rip-off - we paid to be in it during our visit to the glacier but the ship did not get to the glacier so it was the same as if we had gone in at a non-prime time. fun but not too exciting.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
shows were ok but the juggler was funnier than the comedian...

Children's Programs

no young children

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
everyone was very nice but not particularly helpful; communication was TERRIBLE

Ship Quality

Cabin / Stateroom

1 out of 5
our cabin made crazy noises - constant banging and creaking in the ceiling (It sounded like some took bowling balls and rolled them across the ceiling and banged them into the walls - constantly). After several ship staff of varying degrees of authority came to the room and determined that there was NO solution to the problem & that it was untenable, they moved us to another jr suite - 10218 - down the hall. It was much better!

Ship tip

Do not take a jr suite with the large corner balcony. It seems like our problem was worse but others in the same type of room had issues.

CRUISE ENDICOTT ARM & DAWES GLACIER

1 out of 5
The ship could not go further down Endicott Arm to reach even sighting of the glacier. In effect, we did not visit this port!!

Juneau, Alaska

Victoria, British Columbia

We waited in line over an hour to get off the ship for our excursion - but since we were so late, we cancelled the excursion and stayed on the ship. I understand that the ship did not keep MDR open later to accommodate the excursions that were delayed. they had to have pizza or buffet.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
complete opposite of getting on the ship - leaving the ship was quick & easy.

Thanks for the review. Most cruise lines have not resumed priority boarding since Covid. Many ships are unable to get close to the glaciers in Endicott / Tracy Arm due to ice early in the season. If offered, take the small boat excursion for a much better experience.
