Not what I expected... by AttilaTheMum

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Ovation of the Seas

The ship was absolutely beautiful. Bright and modern and nothing like any other ship (well, other than the Quantum OTS) that visits Australian shores. Unfortunately the school camp quality foods and tendency for bar staff to overlook the non-drinkers on refreshment packages and hyper focus on the cash tippers has ensured this was a one and done experience. Unfortunately, the price tag is just not justified, in my opinion.

It was a lovely cruise. Itโ€™s such a beautiful area. We saw whales and waterfalls and glaciers. We enjoyed the ship and food and activities.

Good, just ignore the large group taking 100โ€™s of pictures! by PJandJesse

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Ovation of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Royal is still obviously going through the troubles of restarting a massive industry, sourcing things for ships all over the world from all over the world, training staff to standards, and trying to operate in accordance with local, state, federal and multiple countries guidelines. Theyโ€™re doing their best. When something isnโ€™t available, or the bartender gives you a true pour, Iโ€™m sorry, but you need to go with it. Is everything perfect at your job? Iโ€™m guessing not. So please be kind to these crews trying to give you a great vacation. The ship is sailing basically full now, most things feel normal. Then youโ€™ll ask for a straw and people will start rummaging through cabinets, and may say โ€œI think weโ€™re out of straws, Iโ€™m sorryโ€โ€ฆ then 30 minutes later youโ€™ll get another drink with 2 straws. Just ๐Ÿ˜† and carry on. Youโ€™re cruising again!!! Go with the flow.

This was my first cruise. It was nice. I think I would cruise again by wrpalmer

Ship: Ovation of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

For a first time cruise - this was a learning experience for me. I mostly enjoyed it. I am sure I missed out on many things on board so I will try to plan better if I cruise again.

No More Ovation of the Seas For Me! by KHawk65

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Ovation of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

I will cruise with RC again, just not on Ovation of the Seas. When we voiced our concern to Guest Services regarding the shower drainage issue, Cinthia (Guest Services Manager) had to follow us to our cabin to confirm what we were saying. After confirming that what we said was true she proceeded to apologize but offer nothing more. She called back the following day to apologize some more and to offer us an excursion of our choice. At that point, the damage had been done. We were done. Poor customer service to say the least. I could go on but whatโ€™s the point.

Very Nice Ship - So-So Service by melrodgers85

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Ovation of the Seas

The ship itself is great. Clean, nice decor, good layout, but the staff seem indifferent and the ports of call are pretty inaccessible if you are trying to do things on your own/without an excursion. Get everywhere early if you want a seat. If the walking track on deck 15 is too windy for viewing scenery, try deck 5. It's covered.

Alaska Cruise Ovation of the Seas 9/2-9/9/2022 by Magicsneakers

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Ovation of the Seas

We had an overall great trip considering 7 out of 10 in our group came home with Covid and testing positive on return home. We loved Alaska and getting to see the Northern Lights for 3 nights in Juneau, Skagway and Sitka and getting great pictures it was a bucket list filled trip!

Amazing! by AsYouWishTravel

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Ovation of the Seas

As a Travel Agent, I'd definitely recommend and will be returning to AK. Ovation of the Seas receives a standing Ovation for being a great and beautiful ship. Holds roughly 4500 passengers with lots to see and do such as i-fly, flo-rider, bumper cars, and the north star. Just FYI, some activities on-board that you'd think should be free are nor (i.e. flo-rider, i-fly, and north star). Sorentos pizza ๐Ÿ• is yummy!!

I can't wait to plan my next Royal Carribean cruise. I would definitely go to Alaska again and on Ovation again no doubt. Scenic, and relaxing.

This was a good cruise. I would say the food quality since pre covid has definitely gone down. This ship is not great being that it is a newer and larger ship. It really isn't much better than older smaller ships. In fact it feels smaller. by wesmoffett

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Ovation of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

The ship itself was not nearly as great or big as I thought it would be. The quality of food was poor. the stateroom was smaller than pervious smaller older ships. overall it was fun but maybe don't spring for the newer ship as it costs more and is not worth it.

Alaska 2022 by ABBCD

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Ovation of the Seas

First family cruise. 2 kids (8 & 2). It was rough for the 2 year old as he isn't potty trained. No swim diapers were allowed in pool so there wasn't much for the younger kid (as splash park was closed most of cruise). Our oldest loved Adventure Ocean and met some new friends. Good amount of activities for the whole family...the potty trained ones
