Did Viva live up to the hype? Here’s my thoughts by scootyboy2

I enjoyed my time. It was pretty decent. The Casino host during my voyage leaves a lot to be desired.

Norwegian Viva by tclparks

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Viva

Overall the cruise was very good and enjoyed spending time with family. I loved the cleanliness of the ship but the staff wasn’t very welcoming. I’d still sail on this ship again because I believe it will all come together after the newness wears off. The room steward said they were short staffed so it was understandable why we only saw them once a day.

Viva NCL by jovigrl73

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Viva

This was my first true NCL experience; I had gone on an older ship on a charter cruise, but that experience was nothing compared to this. I thoroughly enjoyed my cruise and will definitely consider NCL in the future.

Meet and exceeded our expectations by jkdao78

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Viva

We had the Starbucks package and used it up. The food was amazing. Being a new ship, it is beautiful. We don’t drink, so can’t say anything about that. The only thing I was the Newlywed game was earlier not 930 when we have to be off the boat at 8 the next morning. Don’t miss Bettlejuice best show at sea.

Amazing Cruise , Ship Lay Out Blues by maryandbrock

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Viva

Our 6th NCL Cruise. Staff and decor were amazing as usual. However ship layout design lacked flow and ease of getting around ship. Food was good, but they have certainly cheaped out on the complimentary dinning and push to up sell at every corner. Big changes in entertainment from past cruises. No dinner shows and first come first serve lines for smaller comedy and music venues. Balcony room had nice design and was more spacious then previous ships we were on. Final thoughts are it’s great cruise but if you are an avid NCL cruiser be prepared to pay extra for dining and fees to have the same experience that used to be standard.

Beautiful Ship by joefirm

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Viva

I loved being on a new ship with the new ship smell. Everything was great except the food in the dining rooms were lacking. Many bars to get a drink from, make sure to catch the shows at Syd Norman’s and enjoy a beautiful island every day.

Such an amazing experience by arecibena

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Viva

We had such great experience, we rebooked! 2025 here we come. Cruise lines cannot please everyone, go with an open mind, ALL cruises are different. Pools are crowded and small so I avoided them but my vacation was not based on a pool but more for the experience and some r&r

A Modern Choice with some Design Pitfalls by planedudea380

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Viva

As aforementioned, out of our nearly twenty cruises this one felt like a departure from older designs, even considering an Oasis class where those are huge yet still retain classic designs. We loved all the food options, both complimentary and upcharge, albeit you can tell NCL is pushing for more upcharge choices. This is also evident in the amount of specialty dining there is onboard. The ships is not disappointing as it has plenty to wow a myriad of people, but some choices like the small pool and buffet made us wonder if the designers did it on purpose. One thing rhat comes to mind is the huge space for Starbucks by some awesome windows, and then on the opposite side of the same deck you have a store taking up the amazing window space and views. I've read that Viva took a few lessons from Prima and I already heard that Aqua (the third in line) will also be a bit different in design. For starters the racetrack will then be a waterpark, so perhaps more accesible open decks. Overall we did enjoy our trip on this brand new ship and would try it again.

The VIVA is a Diva! She's a work of art and NCL delivered fabulous time as ALWAYS! by katiekat79

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Viva

I'm a cruise specialist and travel advisor for World Travel Holdings and was thrilled to take part in this phenomenal opportunity! The Viva is a Diva for sure and is much like her sister the "Prima"! She’s. designed brilliantly with all the modern day amenities and ambiance you could ever desire! I took part in the re-positioning cruise this past December and saw her to her home port in San Juan Puerto Rico! I took my aunt and had a FABULOUS time. Our expectations were exceeded as always with NCL! The ship is gorgeous and the service was amazing! NCL provides a wonderful value! I'd love to help you book your next cruise if you need any pointers, and regardless of which cruise line you love! I'm an avid cruiser travel specialist who will provide you with a Remarkable Cruise! I can be reached directly at 800-288-2006 Ext 33194. Thank you again to NCL and my company for allowing me the opportunity to explore and experience the Viva, a stunning new ship!

Viva moves NCL experiences forward! by motoitalia

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Viva

Norwegian Viva (along with Prima and Aqua) is a departure from NCL's other ships. Different, and somewhat challenging layout, popular food court with tablet ordering, lots of activities on board, and updated cabins make it a love-it or leave-it experience for NCL faithful. Once we adjusted to the layouts of Decks 7 & 8, we appreciated the many areas where you can feel like you're on a ship with fewer passengers, as there are not as many grand-sized common areas. That said, the smallish bars can get crowded in the evenings, and some of the ways to get from one space to another just don't make a ton of sense. But, you get used to it. The outdoor dining spaces on the sides of the ship are great, as are the small infinity pools in those areas. Entertainment was terrific, food was excellent, and the Vibe Beach Club was as great as ever, with the best bar staff on the seas. There's a sense that this is a ship that emphasizes being on its outdoor space, so I'd be hesitant to book a cold weather cruise on her. But for warm weather cruising, it's a step up for Norwegian in terms of on-ship offerings in activities, food options and places to sit and relax. Try it, and you just may click with it!

A wonderful cruise on a beautiful ship by adenlawson

We had a fantastic time and loved the Viva, everything was incredibly beautiful, the staff were so friendly, and for the most part, we found the complaints we had heard about Prima and Viva to not bother us.
