Glaciers, Whales, Sea Lions, Eagles Totems, Native Cultural Experiences were the highlights of our cruise from San Francisco to Alaska! All that was missing from my bucket list was northern lights but the rest of my bucket list items were fulfilled with this fun-filled, very scenic cruise up the pacific coast and inside passage!
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Very pleased with complimentary dining in Seven Seas and Four Seasons and options for snacks etc. The buffet did not have the variety and quality of other dining options. Did visit Le Bistro, Cagney's Steakhouse and Moderno this trip and were not disappointed! Great service and food in Le Bistro and expecially nice attention to celebrating a special occasion. Cagney's also did not disappoint with steaks done to specification and perfection. The Moderno experience was very good with a variety of meats cooked and brought to the table for diners.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
With weather being a factor in Spring on this itinerary, not much outdoor activity happened. I think it would have been helpful to have hot tubs open later at night for folks. I did enjoy the seminars, U paint classes offered and the usual bingo sessions, though very costly for 1 to 3 game sessions, low prizes and no final day winner take all as is done with other cruise lines.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Fully enjoyed and Bravo to Harry O'Donoghue, David Naster, Black Diamonds and Innovations! Did not enjoy the Burt Bacharach tribute but feel the stage may have been too small for dancers to maneuver well and though I loved the music of Burt, all the singers did not do well with renditions. Did not attend further shows as a result.
Children's Programs
Cannot comment as no children were in our party
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Again, not disappointed by staff and service, though felt there was a good amount of training going on in dining rooms. Our room steward Norman was 1st rate!
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Older ship with lots of charm in its smaller venues and design.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Space efficient and plenty of storage space for clothing, toiletries etc. Bed very comfortable. If using c-pap need extention cords (communicated by customer assistance prior to cruise) to reach bedside and only one bedside table in room so husbands was placed on couch. Only complaint - Balcony door was difficult to open and close....could have used some WD 40, but we handled it with some water lubrication.
If you want to visit a day early to take in some San Francisco highlights such as Alcatraz....book online and early as this tour books out way in advance.
Don't miss out on this stop....so much to do, see and learn about native culture, fishing industry and for the more adventurous Zip line and Crabby Bloody Mary are too die for!
We were on this cruise as well. I agree, a fabulous experience! We took the tour to the Yukon in Skagway -- very picturesque. We also did Alcatraz the morning of our departure. That's a not-to-be-missed attraction.
