Overall had a really great... by JulzT

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Star

Overall had a really great time! Always get the beverage package! Food: overall good. Buffets were ok, main dining rooms had great food but were super slow. Dinner took almost 2 hours. Specialty dining was fantastic! Service: bartenders were fabulous, drinks were good and strong. Front desk was always very helpful. Room steward was great, although didn’t see him very often. Buffet was always clean and service there was great too. Would do it again in a heartbeat!

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Star

Enjoyed the cruise overall but the service and access to the sushi an Teppanyaki and Ginza restaurants was a nightmare one check in desk for all of them, craziest setup I've ever seen, I room steward did an outstanding job but the service in all the public areas was sad to say the least, we will not be going on the Star again.

Good family cruise by jimmoellersr

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Mexico

Again, i could not believe Norwegian charges a 3% fee to charge your room for casino play $8 + for a beer and won’t allow any liquids to be brought on board. There are more accommodating cruise lines than Norwegian.

Cabin 12508. My wife and... by roymacgregor

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Star

Cabin 12508. My wife and I bid $200 apiece on an upgrade from a mini-suite to a family suite and were surprised to get the upgrade. It was well worth the extra $; our stateroom had a sitting area, large picture windows, and a bathroom with full tub and separate shower. We had a butler who was on call 24/7 and were entitled to special breakfast and lunch service in a specialty restaurant. We also had head-of-line privileges for disembarking ship for shore excursions and at end of cruise. Overall we were very pleased with the cruise although were disappointed with some of the dining options. Cagney steakhouse and le Bistro French restaurant were very good, but our experiences at la Cucina and Versailles dining room were less than memorable. Aqua dining room was OK with nicer decor and roomier feel than Versailles. In our experience, We would rate Royal Caribbean ships better for dining venues as well as overall food quality. We also like the RC lounges and theatre better than those on Norwegian Star. However the ship’s staff were all very friendly and professional, and we would consider future cruises on Norwegian.

Last Norwegian Cruise by Michael410

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

The cruise was alright overall, but for this kind of money, alright isn't good enough. Norwegian seems to get worse with each cruise. Time to try another line.

Food was disappointing by realjmccoy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

We wanted to be wowed and book again with NCL. However, the food was so tired and disappointing that we did not. Staff needs lessons on customer service. Ship needs to NOT ALLOW deck chairs to be “SAVED” all day every day.

We enjoyed the smaller size... by joeydieringer

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Star

We enjoyed the smaller size of the Star. Itinerary was excellent and the Panama Canal was awe inspiring. A great engineering feat. We enjoyed the shows and the food was outstanding, especially Cagney’s. We highly recommend this itinerary.

Ready to get back home by Tedhamner

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

I wish i could get my money back. The star is a boring ship to be on for 2 weeks. I dont do being bored well. Since i dont have an unlimited bankroll, i could not afford to pay to be in a bingo game all day or buy outrageously overpriced , or beverages, or go to jewelry auctions .

Bucket List Trip by DJTexas

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

This is a bucket list trip that let us go to countries we never dreamed of visiting , plus we got to see the Canal and whales! The ship is easy to navigate and was nice, but could use a few updates.

Worse cruise ever by melody00536

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

If you're under 85 years old that ship is definitely not for you. There is nothing to do on that ship, can't even shop as there are only 2 shops on board. Don't like to have a different waiter in the dining room every time we go. Entertainment isn't great (1 good show in 14 days). Also, on other cruise lines, people can't reserve lounge chairs. if a chair has a towel on it and no one around, staff should pick it up so other people can use it. I have seen towels on chairs overnight (yes, I went to check at 4am) so no one could use the chairs and the people that left the towel there didn't go out until 2pm. Drinks are watered down... you're paying $10-$12. for practically a virgin drink. Buffet setup is terrible. You pratically have to go to different areas to get your food which is not in the same place... you spend more time looking for whatever they have then can't find where you were sitting...

It was a wonderful passage through the Panama Canal. by Grammyp8

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

Overall we had a great time. The Panama Canal was the main reason for this trip and it was memorable. One off the bucket list. The ship itself is smaller but good to navigate. The food overall was good and the staff were remarkable. We would sail with Norwegian again although maybe not with this ship as it is smaller and we like the larger ships. Beware of the cabins on the 11th deck below the Garden Cafe ....very noisy in cabin from chairs above.

Excellent Showroom entertainment by Pegcarpenter

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

The cruise price was very inexpensive, and for that I felt the value was good. I have had better experience on Princess cruises, although the entertainment on NCL Star was excellent. NCL now charges a "surcharge" for room service, it does not have a coffee card to purchase specialty coffees, but Starbuck's on board will gladly charge you $4.50 for a cappuccino.

It really was one of the trips of a lifetime for us! by MacsDaddy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

All told for our 1st cruise, and a long one at that, we were very pleased and we believe we got our monies worth out of the cruise on NCL. We would have no problems cruising with NCL again, and we look forward to doing so. It was a wonderful way to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary. We also made a number of new friends on this cruise.

Great family cruise! by feldmoching

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Mexico

This is a good family year end cruise. It would have been good to see the room Stewart at least once during the trip. The sound system in the cabin was not very good and all the announcements weren't audible.
