Great last minute New Years trip by yharmon

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Mexico

I would love to share pictures but since the Wi-Fi was so expensive we didn’t take too many because we couldn’t share them on social media without being charged those ridiculous rates.

Nice enough ship, decent itinerary, but nothing special about NCL versus any other cruise line.

Western Mexican cruise by Firsttimeer

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Mexico

Great opportunity to spent time with family. But we found the time on the water too much. We would prefer to just fly to port and stay there for several days. That is just our preference in travel style.

Perfect getaway!! by cruiser122834

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Mexico

We really enjoyed the cruise and would easily consider NCL again. However, Just as menus are required to show calories, I believe cruise lines should have disclosures prior to booking. For one, the percentage of pre-adolescent children. We did NOT expect so many unruly children on board. Secondly, we would have liked to know about "politically-incorrect or socially sensitive" groups being on board. Just as there are those that would object to a "Trump Supporters" group on board, some of us disagree with the LGBTQXYZ life choice. In large part, I did not care, but it did interfere with my choices of venue and entertainment. I know, you think I am intolerant.... but I also have rights, and that includes it not being flaunted in the face of my beliefs.

Horrible experience by georgeros999

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Mexico

My cabin was assigned towards the front of the ship apparently directly above the ships anchor hence when we docked (which was usually between 6:30-7:30am) the loud rumbling and cabin shaking occurred and after a late evening out was externally unwelcome and my cabin rear wall must had been adjoining either the mechanical room or locker room because I would hear clanking of tools and/or an occasional load thunk and voices. In summary, had I known this would be the case, I would had saved my monies and traveled with another cruise line. I did ask for a room change the very next day but unfortunately they were all somos out. On the 3rd day, I elected to sleep in my friends cabin on the floor for the duration of the trip.

Mexican Riveria Cruise - Worst Embarkation on Norweigan Star by sotoadventures

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Mexico

I really enjoyed the ports. Each port was beautiful and the people were very friend. The embarkation process sucked but would have been better if everyone had their passports. The entertainment on board should have been all throughout the day and the food was pretty terrible. There wasn't much for anyone to do on the voaf that didn't require us to spend more money. This ship needs a major upgrade.

Fabulous itinerary by Traveler122

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

Take excursions to make most of these ports. These are working cities not just tourist attractions like the Caribbean. Lounge singers we're all very good as are ship band and dancing company. Loved the onboard commentary thru the canal and the 5 talks on major sailing expeditions through history by a retired Prof from Notre Dame.

Great ship...rude travelers by wilsonb333

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

Good cruise, decent ship, rude travelers. This is my second cruise on the NCL Star and I enjoy the boat. However, this time, many of the travelers were very rude. There should be a short presentation explaining conduct expectations so that everyone is on the same page.

Very Unhappy - huge waste of money and miles. by dalepelton

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Caribbean

I would not recommend Norwegian Cruise Line. I would also not recommend using "United Mileage Plus". We used mostly all of our United Mileage Plus miles for this trip. We had been waiting for years to have enough miles to take the cruise. We feel that we were cheated. In talking with many other passengers, we found out that we "paid" much more than most, and did not receive any perks... as most other passengers did. We very much regret using United Mileage Plus and taking the Norwegian cruise.

Worst ship we've ever been on by cheriechristiecc

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Caribbean

I understand things can go wrong, it's basically a floating hotel. But there's no excuse for not having air in our cabin for 6 days, and their answer to that was a bottle of cheap wine and a plate with cheese and grapes. Which my husband told them we don't drink wine. Also we had the drink package, so instead they gave us a $60 credit only after we complained all 6 days

The Norwegian Star. by living2dance

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Transatlantic

I sailed the star for very cheap and I didn't pay the gratuities to Norwegian. Obviously the crew gets a salary and never sees these gratuities anyway. I personally tipped employees who made my experience wonderful!! Had I not booked this ship for cheap, I would have been severely disappointed. I will never sail on the Norwegian Star again. I hope the star isn't a reflection of other Norwegian cruise ships.

Our Inaugural Transatlantic Crossing by Anguskevin56

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Transatlantic

Thoroughly enjoyed our first Transatlantic crossing...now we can 'legally' get anchor tatoos! The 15 night cruise was not too long. We enjoyed our 'at sea' days perhaps more than our 'in port' days. We look forward to our next cruise on Norwegian! Samantha Strassberg did a fine job tailoring our travel and cruise arrangements to match our friend's arrangements, with whom we were travelling.

rome to miami by chromepate

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Transatlantic

I must say that this was our 4th Norwegian and probably our last. The price was great and the perks were really good, but it seems like it is almost self- serve when you go on Norwegian compared to Holland America, Princess, or Celebrity. We are going on a Carnival cruise in December and will be able to judge them, (we have been on 5 Carnival cruises, but not in the last 10 years). I must say that the food has always been better on the other cruise lines than Norwegian.

Never Realized the Atlantic was that Huge by exjumper

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Transatlantic

Even though I may have been unkind in some of my summaries , we thoroughly enjoyed the cruise. Time flew on by unbelievably fast. The biggest disappoint was the disembarkation process. It was totally disorganized and not very well thought out. Be assured it was not the fault of immigration or customs authorities, that went very well. I think it was more of a case of the ships personnel not knowing their jobs.
