Overall, this was a very good trip, and we are glad we did it. Norwegian does have issues to correct. They are rarely on time with excursions. You are given a time to be places and often are 30 minutes late in starting. Also, they make you wait in line for tender tickets and then while waiting in line you are told you don't even need them. Should not have to spend your vacation in line. Norwegian need to work on the shore excursion, guest services and tender ticket lines.
Embarkation
2 out of 5
The embarkation was unorganized. Some people went to check in right away while others were made to wait in line. There was no one explaining and organizing the process. When we finally entered the check in area, we were told to go into the wrong line. After that we were told to go sit and wait because there was a backup getting on the ship. Others were allowed to go in. We finally figured out how to get in and found that those people were going on to the ship.

Ship tip
The fish on the carpet in the state rooms head toward the front of the ship. The port and starboard doors are color coded.
Did the excursion to Pompeii. If this was the only part of the rating, then the rating would be a 5. However, the port entrance and town around the port was not good. The area was sketchy, dirty and full of graffiti. Even other passengers made the same comment.
did the hop on hop off excursion. Port area could be nicer had allot of graffiti at the entrance. The hop on hop off driver missed several stops. Had a fountain and statue that could have been easily a stop, but it was not. Lat stop at the town square was not explained well. If we had not taken a chance and gotten off the rating would have been different.
The port and stop easily get a 5 it was very beautiful. We did an excursion Timeless villages and scenic drive. Norwegian got us off to a bad start by holding the bus at the port for 30 mins for unknown reasons. Then the tour guide was very unorganized, and each stop ran over time. In addition, both of the stops prior to the restaurant stop were tourist traps to sell merchandise. We were out of time at the restaurant and did not get the dessert for the meal. Also, the restaurant was not prepared for the tour groups, was very slow an unorganized in serving. They even ran out of ingredients to make the dishes correctly. When the people on the tour expressed their concerns to the tour guide all she could say was that she did not get feta cheese on her salad. She did not even give notice that it was time to leave the restaurant. She got up and left with no notice. The excursion company gets a 3 at best.
Did the Dubrovnik on you own excursion. The cable car ride was great the views from the mountain were spectacular. Also, the area where the series Game of Thrones was shot was very nice to visit.
There was not a ton to do in this port. We did an excursion as a transfer to the airport. If Norwegian is going to continue to use this port as the disembarkation port for Venice, they need to make arrangements for travelers to get to the Venice airport. Many travelers had the same problems with getting to the airport as we did.
Getting off the ship was easy. The main problem was we felt forced to buy an excursion to get to the Venice airport. Although Triste does have an airport it is very expensive to fly from. Most of the traverls we ran into had the same issue. There was no real good way to travel from Triest to Venice with luggage.
Great itinerary. Appreciate your detailed review. I really like that the fish tell you which way you are facing. Glad you enjoyed your cruise in spite of the hiccups.
