Had a wonderful time! by JoleneS

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The overall cruise was great but the condition of the Norwegian Spirit was disappointing. We really enjoy the freestyle concept that NCL offers of going to meals whenever we choose and also not having to dress up so we can just relax.

A Wonderful Cruise by 80sfan2

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was our first cruise. We were pleasently surprised. We loved just about everything. The cabin was great! We had a balcony and loved the view. Our cabin stewards were wonderful. The Food: What can I say. It was all great, no matter which resturant we were at. Be realistic....there will be items that you don't like, but you have so much to choose from, you can always find something. The Staff: I did not encounter anyone that was not pleasent. Even the Captain had a sense of humor. Ports: We visited 3 port. St. Thomas; Tortola and The Dominican Republic. We were not impressed with St. Thomas. It was OK if you are there to shop. We loved Tortola. Had a great tour guide and Cane Garden Bay Beach was beautiful. DR, we choose the Cayo Laventado Beach excursion and it was a relaxing 3 hrs. on the a beautiful beach. Entertainment: The NCL Dancers are wonderful. We did not like the Acrobatic family or one of the lounge acts, but all in all, we enjoyed each show. We will definately book another cruise, either on this ship or another in this fleet.

A few firsts on our 12th cruise by JoeB11

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I felt like I was on a floating mall. Around every corner there is some kind of goods being offered. The retail areas have spread throughout the ship. This ship is in need of a complete overhaul. Theship vibrates when under way like it has something bent in the props.

Good Ports of Calls by RayG

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We enjoyed the convenience of leaving from New York. The layout and the upkeep of the ship was not impressive. The pool area seemed small and congested especially on days at sea. The best part of the cruise were the ports of call which were great for my wife and I who like going to the beach. The Cayo Leventado shore excursion in the Dominican Republic is a definite must see if you enjoy the beach. The water is pristine.

Good Cruise Value Close to Home by RayG

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

It was great flying from Boston to New York City to board the cruise ship (less than an hour). When choosing this cruise, we were a little nervous that the weather would be cold and the waters rough for the first several days. We were pleasantly surprised. On the first full day out at sea,we were able to walk the deck and sit out with only light sweaters. On the second day out, we were able to sit by the pool in our shorts. The ports of call were great for people who enjoy the beach, snorkling, or sailing. Cayo Levantado Beach Resort shore excursion was absolutely wonderful. It is a resort on an small island. The water was so clean and clear. The beach area was well maintained with plenty of beach chairs in sun or shade as you prefer. This was our first time with free-style cruising and we loved being able to eat whenever we wanted. We were always able to get a table for two (often by a window) when we ate in the dining room. We much preferred this to eating at large tables like many other cruise lines. It seemed so much more romantic that way. The length of the cruise was wonderful (8 nights) so you spent many days in the warm weather. The price was very reasonable too. We would definitely take this same cruise again if they have it in the future. A great cruise for the money

Sisters In the Sun by MargueritA

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

A great getaway for a group of ladies(4 sisters)! We were amazed with the timeliness of all activities and events. Everything is scheduled and begins exactly on time. A lot of freedom with the freestyle cruising- no pressure to meet a scheduled meal time. Food was magnificent wiyth that Norweigan flair. Had several alternate dining options to meet everyone's taste. Friendly, helpful staff in all areas. This itinerary gave you severl days at sea to just relax and appreciate the vastness of our oceans. A good experience for us all.

Relaxing three days in the sun by CeliaV

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The staff was courteous and friendly, the ship was clean, there was hand sanitizer EVERYWHERE to minimize spread of stomach bugs. The food was very good, though the reservation system for the specialty restaurants left something to be desired (i.e. every time we tried to make a reservation, even on days we got up early and got on line before the reservation desk opened, we couldn't get anything). There were plenty of activities - we did everything from arts and crafts to bingo to seeing a great family magic show. And of course there was the famous "chocoholic buffet" - not to be missed!

Ship should be retired by CraigE4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The ship as a whole was quite dated and several rust spots were obvious in both the public areas as well as the cabins I had. The dirt in the rooms remained for almost the entire cruise until I cleaned it. There were no toiletries(lotion, shampoo, etc) like on the many other ships(9) that I and my family have been on. There seemed to be a limit on the number of bath towels that were placed in my room even after repeatedly asking for more. The rooms themselves seemed small, even my six year olds(twins) wondered why they were so small. I have a family of 4 and I get two conecting rooms, without that I would have walked off the boat in NY. The televisions were actually 13 inch antiques that only had 7 or 8 channels. The overall quality of the stateroom was sub standard. I cpuld no way recomend this ship to anyone. I cannot determine if the line "NCL" is in total bad or not but ,I would not be willing to risk such an expensive trip, both from a monetary point of view as well as the time constraints of travelling with school age children. Lastly, the food quality and time of availabilty. The food itself was horrible but there was plenty of it. For the first two days I ate cold cereal for both breakfast and lunch and had a large salad for dinner. By the way the salad bar was always empty. The childrens choices were available everday every meal but it was mostly deep freid fatty garbage.

My first Norwegian cruise by PaulB9

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The ship was nice, great condition and staff. I do not agree with the cover charge dining, too expensive after paying for the cruise. Should have spent a full day on private island (only had 1/2 day) and should have 1/2 day on Nassau which is boring, plus our bus trip on Nasau never happened after we spent two hours or more waiting...we should have been given something for our time wasted

Prison with a buffet by Vanessa11

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

not much for the kids to do (kids club was lame), beautiful pool for the kids but too cold and unuseable, could only go outside 3 days out of 6,ship felt unstable and VERY noisy, closet door banging ALL nite and I wasent the only one! The "private island" was over crowded, shows were lame, service at the sit-down resaurants was non-existant an hour after you order to get your food! i was over charged 2 times when i signed for one price they later added more (try to fight that now). the amount of time in the ports was screwy and we left 1:00pm NO time to relax! Icould go on forever...

The ship was very nice. I was entertained the whole cruise. I thought the teen area should have longer hours. Teens started roaming the ship.

A Fantastic Vacation! by JennyW1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The Norwegian Spirit is an excellent ship. It was our second time on this ship and we absolutely loved it. For people looking for an experience on one of the larger, newer ships, this might not be the ship for you, but we loved it. The staff is second-to-none! The food is awesome too.

NCL Spirit Free Style by VictoriaL

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

There were more restaurants where you had to pay for quality food than what was included. Poor maid service for our cabin. Misinformation on promotions on board ship. Excessive cost for most activities on board ship. Unfriendly staff.

A fabulous cruise! by Dh4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was our first time cruising and it was fabulous. The ship and staff was great. We had an inside stateroom and all our friends said we would regret. The room was large, we spent more time in the room than we thought we would, but we never felt it was a problem. The food/restaurants were top notch, even the buffet. The variety pleased all. We travelled with 9 other people, the ages were from 11 months to 55 and we all enjoyed, everyone was so accomodating. Ready to go again.

MY NCL CRUISE by SandraD12

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The ship cuold stand an up date, beds were very bad, I used the mattress from the fold out bed on top of our bed to try to get some rest, I did call the desk about the bed and was given an egg crate. The free style is great we have taken advantage of dinning options on other lines NCL has just put a name on it. But the food in the buffett was not good, no variety, not prepared well an no options when it came to dessert. The Steak house was excellent and windows Resturant was nice we tried these options out of frustration with the buffet. The spa needs to add a pedicure station my husband and I treat ourselfs to a pedicure and the operator was great but the big bowls of water she used to give us our pedicure were sad, we payed more for it then on other lines and it was not good.

A Very Easy and Relaxing Cruise by RonK7

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The Spirit is a comfortable size; not too large and not too small. It only takes a few hours to become very familiar with the layout and know your way around. The crew and staff were very accomodating and friendly.
