Awful, horrible, waste of time. If you're not a retiree avoid this cruise
Embarkation
2 out of 5
Getting on the boat was a huge pain, it seemed like evergreen days they were changing the COVID testing rules and we had to scramble to find a place in Seattle to test.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
1 out of 5
The staff was friendly enough but we were constantly finding hairs in our food no matter where we ate. Also the staff walking around the buffet with baked goods saying "yummy yummy for your tummy" so so cringe.
Onboard Activities
1 out of 5
There is literally nothing to do on the Spirit. While this ship was recently remodeled they did not add any activities to it. There are 2 pools, 6 hot tubs, and a lot of crosswords and Soduku. We brought out 4 years daughter along because we were told the boat had a Splash Academy (which it does not) and she was bored out of her mind.
Entertainment
1 out of 5
Clearly this cruise was geared towards people 55+, the music and shows were all very dated and retired people friendly.
Children's Programs
1 out of 5
Children's program? What children's program?!?! We were told by 3 separate people at Norwegian this boat had a Splash Academy and it was open. IT DOES NOT!!! We were trapped for 9 days with a toddler who had nothing to do on board. Do you know how many times I had to sit through Frozen on her ipad!!!
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
Staff was friendly enough throughout the boat, but nobody seemed thrilled to be in Alaska, they were all relieved the ship would be moving on to a more tropical destination in a few weeks. Kelly at the Shore Excursions desk was the only really helpful member of the crew.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
The ship as a while was clean and freshly remodeled. One of the restaurants wasn't done and was closed the whole time, and there was no longer a Splash Academy on board.
Cabin / Stateroom
1 out of 5
Like a port-a-potty with a bed! Our original room stank! The bathroom literally smelled like a chemical toilet, it was so bad my wife threw up and my daughter refused to go in there. We had to use the toilet by the pool which was freezing cold for 3 days until they moved our room. The original room was also above the theater so from 8:30-9:30 all you could hear was the music and base from below. For what we paid the room was tiny and the "bed" for 4 year daughter was just hard pull out surface from the chair. She complained how uncomfortable it was and we had to put down 3 layers of comforters and blankets. A Disney cruise might cost more, but at least they give you space and a legitimate pull out bed. There is no way these rooms actually sleep 3 people.
A legit tourist trap built in Alaska. The ziprider is fun, but not much else to do besides that as they are still building the trails....oh and bring your bear spray because they are everywhere, went to go on the hike and we had to be escorted by a guide with a shotgun.
What is the point of even stopping here?!?! The boat gets in at 8pm and everything is closed. The only thing worth seeing here is the Gardens and they cancelled that tour because the boat gets in so late.
