Review summary
I would rate this cruise as very poor. But speaking just for the ship itself, I would say it is the best designed ship I have been on, and I have been on over 50 cruises. The cruise lines have really gone downhill since I started cruising. The ships no longer provide a real cruise experience, just a ferryboat ride from place to place. The food has gotten really bad and the entertainment is poor at best. Newcomers might not know the difference, but the more experienced people do. As a hobby photographer, and a well traveled cruiser, I have always been allowed to take memory photos in the theater! The Norwegian Spirit did not allow that. In fact they had their messages mixed up. Sometimes they said it was because of copyright laws, other times they used other excuses, so who knows. The other cruise lines do not have this problem. They just say no flash and no video. I would suggest that people not go with NCL if they want to really do a cruise!!! If they just need transportation from island to island, then this might work, but be aware that the food and entertainment is terrible.... I stopped going on NCL cruises years ago, but got talked into going on this trip, just because it went to the paces I wanted to see. Hopefully I will not need to repeat this mistake again.Embarkation
