Review summary

The food was very bad in the free restaurants, which seems to be the norm on NCL, which forces you to eat at the specialty restaurants. Everything is a NO when you ask for it, including doneness of steak and believe it or not mayonnaise. My particular cabin had black mold in the bathroom and shower. Carpets very dirty, automatic doors worked when they wanted, lack of upkeep and very little amount of overworked crew members for the amount of passengers onboard. You get what you pay for and for a little more money I'd rather go on a real cruise next time that doesn't cater to a mass market like Oceania. I'll never sail on NCL ever again. This was my third and final cruise. I've tried to like them but it all feels so cheap. The nickel and dime game is horrible. $10 for an after dinner coffee. Drinks are expensive, etc. Drink package alcohol is cheap stuff and bad food quality. Shore Excursions are way over priced, sometimes double. Meatballs and lasagna are the same food served at the buffet on Italian night so don't pay extra for the Italian Restaurant. It's not a fine dining authentic Italian restaurant but more of an American-Stye Italian in the buffet area with a rope to block it off from the rest of the buffet line. Tacky. You end up paying overinflated prices for so much onboard that you end up paying more than if you were to have gone on Celebrity which is much better quality. Spend your money wisely and do not purchase a cruise based on price alone. You'll end up with a ship full of cheap people and a lackluster experience and will ultimately spend more money. I wish I could get my money back and I've never said that about a cruise ever. Don't do it! Ports were fabulous, again they would take off early so they could open the casino and shops and bars to make money. Oceania would have stayed over night, I'm just saying again - you get what you pay for. Buyer beware.

Last-minute cruise and I booked the last available cabin and it was this one. It was very small and it was difficult to get in and out of bed as there is only about a foot of space on each side of the bed and since there was a pulldown bed attached to the wall, you couldn't use that side of the bed because you'd hit the bed hanging on the wall leaving you the only option of sliding down the to the foot of the bed. The bathroom was a nice size for a cruise ship and so was the shower, however the sliding door did shower/bathroom. Not a lot of closet or storage space either. No place to sit down. Lots of bright lights shining when lights are off and light coming in through bottom of the door which required a towel to block.

Ship tip

Don't do it. Spend your money elsewhere for better quality and service. You'll be wasting your money.

Gotta say, I have cruised NCL a few times and NEVER ever paid $10 for coffee. I think you were having a bad dream.

Wow is there anyone left for you to offend? First I am appalled that you would even think about commenting on how much the staff work on those ships. They bust their *sses all the time to try and make sure you are taken care of. Some people will never be pleased, but that is their own fault. The drinks are your choice. If you have a drink package you chose what you want and anything over a specific dollar amount ($15 I believe) you pay the difference. If you had bad drinks it is because you ordered bad drinks. The $10 coffee you mentioned was probably not just coffee, I assume you ordered an alcoholic coffee which is not included in the drink package because usually their coffee beverages are from an outside company doing business on their ship (not 100% sure though). The food from the specialty restaurants does not come from the buffet, that is just silly to say. As for a ship full of cheap people, I bet they were all having a great time around you. Lastly, I love cruising NCL and have never experienced any of what you complained about. I do hope you enjoy your next cruise on another cruise line, NCL doesn't deserve a guest like you.

I think you was on a different ship to me 6 weeks ago. The staff were amazing, the ship was spotless, food and entertainment was fantastic. The drinks were all premium brand such as grey goose, Hendricks and included in the package. The mdr's were brilliant quality and before you say anything I have cruised many times including RCI and celebrity. You seem delusional!!!
