Review summary

Excellent service onboard, superb dining rooms, buffet so-so, floor shows good not great, lots of selling (I forgot to bring cufflinks and the cheapest available were $300!).Turkey was a nightmare with horribly aggressive street vendors who would have been arrested elsewhere. Amazing scenery with archeological marvels. Tour guide radios need upgrading; other than static and an occasional word in broken English, we heard nothing.

Nonetheless, I would recommend this cruise to everyone but children and the elderly.

Small but balcony made a big difference.

Ship tip

Try to get a window in Windows dining room. Cabins are small, a balcony is a must. I always tip cabin steward on the very first day; results are amazing. Ask to share table with others; you are bound to meet at least 2 interesting passengers. Don't purchase pictures from Photo Gallery until last day

Favorite place to visit.

Istanbul, Turkey

Turkish lira is a nuisance, shopping is insane, vendors are possibly the worst in the world.

Kusadasi (Ephesus), Turkey

Similar to, but not as bad as Istanbul.

Piraeus (Athens), Greece

5 out of 5
Perhaps the most interesting ancient buildings in the country.

Venice, Italy

A five-hour wait in Marco Polo airport is a nasty way to end a cruise. Problem is, the airport is much too small to handle tens of thousands of passengers.
