Me and my husband will go back to the Sky, I do not know how are we going to find the time, but we have to go back to the Sky.

We paid a higher price for a 4 day cruise that had a port of call every day. After paying for it, they dropped one of the stops, so we ended up paying the higher price, but getting the cheaper itinerary.

I have sailed many times on many cruise lines. Perhaps it is a result of the short itinerary -- and perhaps a result of Norwegian cutting corners in our current market. But whatever the reason, this voyage was truly vile. Our room, a balcony suite, was filthy. Stomach turning sewer odors permeated the halls and elevator shafts. The dining staff was entirely difficult and unaccommodating. The pubic facilities were extremely modest and unkept. And the food was vulgar. I am not a difficult person to please and have NOT EVER complained about any travel experience I have had before. I look at most opportunities such as these as blessings, but this was truly disgusting. I wish I had known about the ship and its features before I booked.

The ship was recently refurbished so many of the prior problems seem to have beeen resolved although our shower head did keep falling off and the shower is small. The boat was clean but at times we did detect an odor on deck 7. I sailed The Pearl in 2/08, it is a nicer boat and I do think the food was better but I did also enjoy The Sky. The buffet does get crowded at times but we ate dinner in the restraurants and the food was very tasty. The staff is very out going and polite, they were very accomodating. I love the freestyle but I do wish there was more choices at 10pm or so..some people get hungry and it seems like everything is shut down, Our last night we did find a sports bar at the very top of the boat that did serve food at night.

This was not the first cruise for my wife and I, nor are we very picky people I must say. Compared to Carnaival the food was much better in taste and presentation. Also the staff was so very nice and helpful. The staff on Carnival would run you over if you were in their way. We found the ship very nice and in good condition contrary to other reviews. We had a clean cabin, which we thought was decent in size. For those of you that complain about the size of your cabin, what do you expect? We had no issues with broken or not working items. I was worried because after I booked this ship I read the reviews and saw all the negative reviews, but now I am fully convinced some people just have to find a fault with most everything. My wife and I give much credit to all that are employeed on the Sky and thank you very much. One complaint was not with NCL, but with the parents of the wondering bothersome childern on board. Just because it is free style cruising and you are on a ship which means they can't really go anywhere, DOES NOT mean you should let them run free to make little pests of themselves. My only other comment is...although it is "freestyle crusing" some rules were put in place such as not shorts in the dining rooms after 5pm, but everynight there wer many people not following the rules that were clearly posted, I feel they were posted and the staff had the right to enforce them, but did not witness this at all.

After reading bad reviews all summer on the Sky here and other websites, I was a little leary of the ship but was very surprised and pleased with the cruise. The food in the buffet was your standard cruise ship buffet --nothing fancy but good. The main restuarants were very pretty but the servers were slow. The food was good. I read in other reviews that people had to wait for ever to be seated in the main restuarants. We were willing to share tables and did not have to wait at all. Embarkation was a breeze. Being Latitudes members we checked in very quickly. (The man that checked us in was grouchy but NCL couldn't help that..) I have never been greeted by so many staff members as we boarded the ship (and I have been on 2 other NCL ships) as well as Carnival, Holland America, and RCL. I had read that the staff was not friendly---we did not find this to be true. Everyone was nice and friendly and would speak when they passed you on the ship. Our room stewards, Ricardo and Jeffrey, on the 8th floor were great. My mother wanted to bring Ricardo home with us. On one occasion he went above and beyond his duty. Needless to say he got an extra tip from us. Our outside room was very nice. The guys kept it very clean all time. The ship was clean (contrary to other things I have read). We saw one young man down on this knees polishing the tile on one deck. We never smelled the sewage odor and we went all over the ship. The 3 decks of the Atrium were very pretty. Our air conditioner and bathroom worked fine. The ship was smaller than some. I have been on the largest afloat (RCL). I thought it was a good size. I have read complaints on Freestyling that you do not get to meet other cruisers at dinner like the other ships' assigned tables. If you are willing to share larger tables you do meet other folks---you're just not with the same ones every meal. We met several folks and enjoyed the company of those folks at our tables. The Hawaiian decor did not bother us. The palm trees and some of the other decor fit in fine with the Bahamas. Last fall when we cruised (on the NCL Spirit) I did not know that I had cancer so after a hard year dealing with health problems, my mother and I took this cruise to celebrate my good health. We went with a good attitude. I think some folks have gone on this ship with a bad attitude and found everything to be bad.

The ship is in good shape, however the service is poor and the staff is always restricted to leave the public places by 2:00 am, Security follow the crew as they where burglars.

We sailed the Norweigen Sky and this was our first cruise. It was everything that we hoped for and more. For all that haven't taken a cruise take a 4 day and relax and enjoy.

I really liked this ship, the food was good. There was some good buffets especially the barbeque that they had the first night. The room was nice and clean and the hot tub was the best. I recommend a tour in Nassau because we got lost after our tour and wandered the streets and we ended up in the straw market which I loved, but I am a woman so I could spend all day and all my money! The private island is nice and relaxing with lots of stuff to do. I recommend this cruise, it is reasonably priced and good itinerary!

Here's what I thought about my four-day Norwegian Sky Caribbean Cruise that began on Sept. 29, 2008 out of Miami: I am single and usually have a great time on Carnival cruises; I only had a good time on the Norwegian Sky. Norwegian charged twice the per person rate for single occupancy, instead of 150%, but I thought I'd give it a try anyway. My inside cabin was too tiny with the 2 beds together and placed in the center. The bathroom was small, as expected, but had nice big storage shelves, good water temperature & flow. The air conditioning was quiet and the thermostat worked well. The TV was a small size tube TV, not an LCD. There was no financial channel, such as CNBC. The small in-room safe worked well, but instructions were on the inside of the closet door, not in view of the safe itself. A small in-room frig was an unexpected nice touch, but it was stocked full of unwanted stuff. Self-service ice was not available near the room. A coin laundry was also not available, neither was an iron. Pizza was only available 2 1/2 hours a day, starting at noon, and ice cream availability was also for a limited time; Carnival has 24-hour availability of both - a big, big, big plus for me. Three of the five restaurants were not free ($10-$15 extra per meal), but the food was very good in the other two. Portions there were generally small, but you could order two of each, if desired. You must make reservations for dinner or you have to wait for a table during peak hours - that's not my idea of free style. The self-service Buffet hours are much too short - that's not free style either. The buffet food was warm, not hot. There is no self-service food at all after 10:30 PM for us night people. There were not enough self-serve free drink stations (juice, punch, iced tea, etc.). I found only two, both inconveniently located, not close to the pool. Neither one had all beverages working at all times. Self-serve food and drinks were located too far at the back of the ship. The Dance Club had only Salsa dancing until about midnight, limiting the hours for freestyle club dancing, which was in the same place, but after the hours designated for Salsa. It would be nice if these were simultaneous in two separate venues and at least the freestyle dancing would continue until well after midnight. It would also be nice if there were free gaming lessons scheduled at various times in the Casino, especially for table games like craps. There were no trashcans around the ship, but it was generally very clean. More FWD-AFT directional signs would be nice especially at the elevators and stairs. There were no poolside contests or activities; lying out at the pool became boring at times. Karaoke was fun, and the first half of the comedian's show was very funny. The crew was friendly, but somewhat impersonal, and I wondered if some of them even understood me when I spoke to them in English. Embarkation and disembarkation procedures were well organized.

Let me say the only good experience for us was our waitress in the Palace dining room. The staff were rude and seemed put out by us being there. Our cruise was diverted to the western Carribean due to a tropical storm. In Cozumel and Key West, it took us 2 hours to get off the ship after we reached port. It was like a refuge ship, too much chaos and crew VERY slow to call passengers to the tenders. The entertainment was mediocre at best. The buffet was very chaotic, design was poor in traffic flow. Food(when available) in buffet was only fair. Food in main dining was OK, but nowhere as good as other cruise lines. The cabins are small, which is OK, but they lack drawer storage space. Only saw cabin steward twice, never introduced himself, but made sure to knock on door on final night. (Looking for gratuity perhaps?) Other crew members were overheard saying how stupid americans were.If your looking for a BAD cruise experience, then this ship's for you. Fare was very cheap, but now I think we'll stay "Loyal to Royal".

ROOM SMELLED LIKE MOLD - NO WATE PRESSURE - THEATER WAS WAY TO COLD -CASINO WAS TO SMOKEY -DINING ROOM SERVICE AND FOOD WAS THE WORST - TOOK A LONG TIME TO GET FOOD AND NOT MUCH OF IT WHEN IT CAME

We have been on the Sky about three times, but the first time on it was a seven day island hop out of Honolulu. I believe that was in 2007. It was then called the Pride of Aloha. Really enjoyed that cruise.

I have to say that the Suite is phenominal! The view from the suite, the concierge and butler service is fantastic!! I loved the room and the service! Especially, the late snack that is delivered nightly to the suite (mainly chocolate covered strawberries). The meals on the ship isn't really great! We had one night that we had grouper and lobster and that was great. Atlantis is over rated, but we had a blast on the private island. I would reccomend this ship if your going to stay in the suite!

We traveled with our two teenage kids and had a great time. The staff were all excellent. Extremely friendly and always willing to help. Cruise director Matt and asst. cruise director Seenone (Bingo Boy) were fantastic! Pleanty of activities for all ages. Battle of the sexes and Newlywed game were fun. Comedian Tim Kaminski was hilarious! Tim could also be seen every day and night amongst the passengers having a good time. Freestyle was wonderful. Eat where, what and when you want to. The food in the restaurants was very good. We never waited more than 5 minutes for a table. Service was quick. Buffet menu changed very little, but food was consistent. Hamburgers hotdogs and pasta were mainstays, but they did a good job of introducing other main dishes as well. The Indian food was very good as was the lamb, roast beef and chicken dishes. Cover charges do apply for the 3 finer dining restaurants: Cagney's steakhouse $20, French $15, Italian $10.

THIS SHIP WAS BETTER THAN CARNIVAL CRUISE LINES. THE COMEDIAN TIM KAMINSKI WAS GREAT!!! HE IS ONLY ON THE SHIP FOR 5 WEEKS THEN OFF 3 WEEKS.THE BEDS WERE HARD. 3RD PERSON HAD TO SLEEP ON A SOFA BED THAT WAS IN OUR WAY EVERY NIGHT. LOTS OF HAND SANITIZER AT THE RESTAURANTS. WOULD RECOMMEND THIS SHIP. THE AC DID GO DOWN ON THE LAST DAY FOR 2HRS. TOOK 2HRS TO RECOOL EVERYTHING. THEY NEED TO GET SEA DO'S AT THEIR PRIVATE ISLAND.ROYAL CARRIBEAN HAS SEA DO'S

Very nice cruise, we really enjoyed the freestyle cruising. we can eat anytime, not rushing to go anywhere.

AFTER READING THE REVIEWS FROM JULY '08 I WAS VERY LEERY ABOUT THIS CRUISE SHIP. EVERYTHING MUST HAVE GOTTEN FIXED BY THE TIME WE CRUISED IN MID AUGUST. FOOD WAS BETTER THAN CARNIVAL. POOL WAS VERY NICE.SHIP WAS EASY TO FIND YOUR WAY AROUND.THE BEDS WERE HARD AND WE HAD A PULL OUT SOFA BED FOR MY SON WHICH WAS IN OUR WAY AT NIGHT. THEY NEED PULL DOWN BUNKS INSTEAD.WE DID LOOSE THE AC ON THE LAST DAY FOR 2 HRS. WE SPENT THAT TIME ON THE DECK. IT TOOK ABOUT 2 MORE HRS. TO RECOOL EVERYTHING. THIS SHIP IS GOOD FOR A CHEAP WEEKEND TRIP. YOU MUST MAKE SURE THE COMEDIAN TIM KAMINSKI IS ON THE SHIP. HE IS VERY FUNNY, BUT DON'T LEAVE HIS SHOW EARLY OR HE WILL CHASE YOU DOWN!! ALSO THERE WAS NOT A PIZZA BAR!

I'd like to start by saying this was SUPPOSE to be a great first cruise for my 6 yr old grand daughter, It WASNT.....What they say, and what they do is two different things, the ships lay out was terrible, the elevator opens in to the buffet.... the SO Called buffet, was like a Horrible Morrisons caffeteria, take your tray, go down the line..... they had the same nasty food EVERY DAY! hotdogs, burgers, fries, lunch, dinner! and you waited over 30 minutes for that burger, at a buffet!!! have you ever? they advertised, chicken nuggets, pizza, none of it on that buffet!!!!!couldnt sit at a table because lots of them were dirty tables,they used those nasty bus boy bins, putting them on the tables while clearing them, then NEVER wiping the table after picking up the bins, GERMS, GERMS, GERMS the staff were VERY SLOW, LAZY.... my grand daughter very dissapointed. no activities going on, Im not sure their was a cruise director, we never saw one. we didnt see our room steward till the NEXT day. had bunk beds NO ladders, no rules were inforced, A grandmother and her grandson had to be airlifted to a Bahamas hospital, because he fell on a slick wet rainny basketball court, which should have been closed during the heavy rains..... this was the WORST cruise EVER!!!!!!!!

The air conditioning in our room did not work the entire trip. We were given a small room to sleep in and a $200 credit. My son had a room across the hall and had the same problem. Be careful eating on their own island. My wife became very ill due to Salmonella poision. This is not something anyone should have deal with.
