Wonderful Time on NCL Pearl by Licence

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

I took a 7 day Alaskan cruise with my 75yr old father and my 7 yr old son and had a wonderful time on the NCL Pearl. The weather in Alaska was phenomenal, the ports and shore excursions were so interesting and the staff on the Pearl was excellent. There was always something to do and the ship accommodated the needs of all 3 generations of us. Alaska is a must see!

Great Ship but itinerary could be better by krips

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

The ship was great. Like most of the major ships food was awesome and amenities were great too. However the rooms very tiny. The staff was very courteous and helpful. My major complaint was the itinerary. We didn't get to see a whole lot of Alaska. There was not enough time for excursions at most of the ports. If you want to see more of Alaska, I recommend one way cruise.

Alaksa cruise July 2013 by Firsttimealaska

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Food and activities were ok. Music and shows were entertaining. Kids clubs seemed a little dull for my 11 and 13 year old boys. Beds were really firm, like bounce a quarter off the bed firm...would have appreciated a softer bed.

Cruise by Alaska

Great cruise...Glacier Bay, etc....good food, sights, ship's crew was wonderful. Too expensive for excursions and cocktail drinks...would like to see these become more affordable.

Words cannot adequately explain the experience of sailing to Alaska. The sights, sounds and smells are forever embedded in my mind. My wife and I had the vacation of a lifetime fulfilling my wife's childhood wish of seeing Alaska and its abundant wildlife.

Adult sons and mom go to Alaska by Retiredskygal

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

I gave the cruise 4 stars. Very satisfied but now perfect I love the NCL spa across the front of the ship. I purchase the unlimited thermal spa package and use the facilities every day. This is the best place to view the glaciers. Panamoric views and everyone else is outside standing in the cold trying to get up to the rail to take pictures. My next favorite is the freestyle dining. Not being locked into a set dining time and table makes the cruise more personal. The quality of the food has slipped in the main dining rooms and the buffet. It's still good but no expensive cuts of meat and no fresh seafood. The 16 specialty restaurants offer the premium selections and the service was always elegant. It does offer the budget minded cruiser an option, some have a cover charge($30-$15) and are no charge. You can decide where and how to splurge. My next favorite is the ports. Each port offers a unique look at Alaskan history. They are commercial but keep the flavor of the Alaska frontier. I defiantly would recommend NCL. The Alaska cruise is my favorite. I have done it 4 times. It is not hot weather but the scenery, wildlife and ports are fabulous.

Seven days of being pampered. by happygolucky2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

I have never cruised before and thought I could not afford it, but the price was great the service was better than anything I have ever experienced. We were treated as if we were the only people on the ship wanting for nothing. Food was excellent, stateroom was just what we had hoped for, we could not have had a better time. I would recommend Norwegian to anyone who ask about cruising. We will cruise again and it will be with Norwegian Cruise Line.

Leisurely Cruise by calprovo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

We had a wonderful inside passage Alaskan cruise with Norwegian Cruise Lines on the Pearl. This was our first cruise and we were well taken care of on board the ship. The service in the the staterooms was great. They made fun animals each evening to surprise us and even turned down the beds. The food was delicious especially the complimentary restaurants. We would recommend this cruise to any age and would take another cruise on this cruise line.

parkers in alaska/ or Santa goes north by Santa

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

The crew was fantastic the food beyond compare the sights unforgetable. All the ports of call were easy and friendly with a dock side exit. As we are latatude members our embarcation day was a breeze meaning no lines or hassles of any kind. Also deembarkation day was very fast an simple as we did not have anything to declare for customs so they looked at our passports and daid welcome home. The pier in Seattle is right near pike street market with direct access to alaskan way so again reduced hasseles over the port of miami. As I am a diabetic I enjoy that Norwegian serves a sugar free desert at all meals and the cream puffs on the last night of the cruise were to delicious to put in to words. Again we were so pleased with norwegian that we pre registered for our next cruise while on this trip.

Terrific Time!! by havingfun

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

One of my best cruises: Weather was fantastic, company was equally fantastic, Mother Nature was at her "showy" best and Norwegian Cruise Line just laid out a week of pomp and fanfare that kept all our senses engaged!! Not to speak of the immensely appetizing food and the wonderful young men and women in attire who served us!!

Alaska in June by HoosierCruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Overall, a nice vacation, as we had spectacular weather. The ship was clean and our room steward very friendly and helpful. I loved my pass to the spa, it is a very relaxing space with wonderful views from the bow of the ship. Two main criticisms though. The food was very unimpressive. None of us ever got a steak or fish dish that wasn't cooked to death, and the Garden Café was just madness no matter what time we went. Other guests would take window tables to sight see, leaving us balancing plates of food, cups of hot coffee etc. looking for somwhere to sit and eat. We even saw a sleeping toddler taking up an entire booth. The ship's crew should be monitoring this rudeness and moving people who are clearly not eating to an appropriate viewing area. Second disappointment was entertainment. We watched several nature documentaries in the theater that had to have been made in the 1980's and were poorly projected, probably off a VCR tape... there was an overall lack of interesting things for our older teenagers to do onboard as well. The climbing wall was only open a couple of hours at a time, often when it was too cold or windy to enjoy. We tried the game room, but there was never space open. Glad we took our Kindles... In summary, we very much enjoyed Alaska and our shore excursions, but would have enjoyed less mass-prepared food and some social activities for older teens.

We had a awesome vacation, the scenery was breathtaking. Spectacular view from my balcony, looking at the many glaciers. All staff including onboard activities and entertaiment like Arvin & Emily, they are award winning stars and the comedy group was great.

The Pearl Inside Passage Alaska by SpokaneJohn

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

This was our third Alaska cruise and first time with NCL. Nice surprises: 1. Entertainment. We greatly enjoyed the "Oh What a Night to Remember Tribute" (4 Seasons Tribute band). Professional and worth seeing. Jana Seale was a "not to miss" performer...if you love Folk/Pop music by a great voice and a great picker (guitar music accompaniment)...Jana is your girl! Also worthy of mention is Arvin and Emily...a fantastic duo with a great blend (Their rendition of "A Prayer", rocked the boat!). 2. Debarkation in Seattle...about as quick and smooth as we've experienced. 3. Itinerary: The "must sees" on any Alaskan cruise must include Glacier Bay and Skagway (for the rail trip). This itinerary included both! 4. Dress code. Loved the option to stay in jeans the whole trip...not for everyone, I know, but I loved the simplicity and ability to travel light! As expected: 1. Tiny, tiny cabins (141 sq ft inside). Only way to get on/off bed was over the end (side space further reduced by stowed upper bunk). 2. Good variety in ages...singles/families/seniors. Room for Improvement: 1. Service Charge. NCL has a mandatory service charge ($12/pp) above which you are encouraged to "tip" for exceptional service. This is BS! The other lines charge a gratuity/tip fee which you may adjust...NCL, please follow suit! 2. The Summer Cafe (usually called the Lido Restaraunt on the other lines) is very undersized in stations and seating! Always felt very crowded. 3. Embarkation at Seattle was very inefficiently run with exceptional long lines and waiting times. Need an efficiency expert to look at this! All in all, we enjoyed our week on the Pearl and would recommend it to anyone on a tight budget (as long as you stay with the non-add-ons). 2.

Alaksa was awesome. Norwegian could have done better... (2.5 stars really) by KevinMiller

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

I had always read that Carnival was not the best cruise line (I've taken several) so we decided on Norwegian. When I stepped on the Norwegian ship, I was expecting it to be better than Carnival. I was disappointed. Alaska, of course, is an excellent destination. But the Norwegian Pearl was not great. The food was ok - definitely not great. The service was fine - definitely not great. The freestyle dining means that you don't make any personal relationships with the wait staff - which is a shame! Plus, the food is just like you would get at a Denny's. Now, before you say anything - I love Denny's. So, I'm not saying the food was BAD, it was just not great. The ships activities were fun - very good entertainment. And the trip itinerary was wonderful and the shore excursions were great. So mainly, the food and service were not up to Carnival standards.

7 Day Glacier Bay, Alaska by lfinnewyork

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Going to Alaska should be in everyone's bucket list. It is the most wonderful place on earth. So much different from our regular way of life. You would see places where human beings never set foot on. Pristine places, ice age glaciers, amazing sea creatures. Awe inspiring indeed. You see God's creation in all its amazing places. And the people are very nice. Support Alaska. It is truly our very own.

excellent...Very carefree and clean rooms.. The crew was excellent with service. But there is just one thing.. When you depart from the ship with your luggage, tell people that you do not have to get in line early, or be the first in line because it does not matter.. The line moves real fast so do not worry about being the last one in line.. You can wait until 30 minutes before.. It's OK

Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

The cruise was excellent and I had a great time on the cruise. But I wasn't happy with my booking of the cruise. When I was checking out the cruise I called NCL to get details of the cruise and the NCL person told me that if I booked the cruise I would get $100.00 on board credit . I mentioned this to my travel agent and she assured me I would get it if I booked it with her. She also told me I would get an additional $ 75.00 if I used a Mastercard which I did. I got the $ 75.00 from MC but I didn't get anything from NCL and I am very disappointed in NCL. I took you at your word and when the time came I was told there was no on board credit from NCL. I am a platinum latitude member and I have never complained about this before so now you can see why I am very disappointed in NCL
