Review summary

NCL's freestyle cruising is the perfect match for Alaska's casual frontier experience.  We went at the end of the season and the ship was clean and the crew was energetic and engaging.  Plenty of diverse activities on board from trivia to Yoga. The shows were fine but not as elaborate as some of the Mega ships. The arrival times on most of the stops are odd but this is simply due to the distances traveled but not seeing Victoria in the daylight is still a bit disappointing.  Be sure to get the upgraded dining package for at least a few nights.  It is well worth it.  It's not that the included food is bad it's just that the specialty restaurants are excellent.

Handicapped room was huge and we'll appointed. Our steward was readily available and the room was impeccably clean.

Ship tip

The buffets were excellent. The main dining room food was above average but not amazing. All five of the premium restaurants were excellent. Cagney's steakhouse was my favorite.
