Review summary

The entertainment was the best thing on the cruise. If you are going to make us pay extra for dinners, at least make them outstanding. There was lots to eat, but mostly buffet style. I miss the dinners I had years ago. The tours that we picked were pricey, but a good experience. So if you want middle of the road dinners, way over priced drinks ($10+ per drinks), beautiful scenery, good service and tours that are pricey, then cruising is the way to go.

About the drinks... even if you get their drink package $54 per day per person they add 18% on that for about $64 per day. so the drinks cost $448 per person for the cruise. So buy the upgrade perhaps and get at least one drink package included if the cost is lower than extra $448. Our drinking bill was $350 for two of us. We drank as much as we wanted to using the drink of the day and bottles of wine and we still didn't even pay as much as the $448 for one person.

Bottom line unless any packages are included in your room price they are way over priced.

@cruisemarlene... we did eat at the steakhouse.. it was good but about the same thing I would get at outback steaks. The appetizers were a little better, but the steaks were middle of the road. The rooms were clean and were nicely layout so they felt bigger than they were. we didn't spend much time in them other than to sleep and get cleaned up. All of the personnel were responsive and friendly. The Indian food in the buffet was the best... I think that was because their was an Indian chef running it. Salads and soups were good as well.. just everything you had to purchase was about double what it was worth... So have fun and enjoy everything else.

I thought the selections and variety in the Pearl's MDR (Summer Palace) were pretty good. The more processed stuff you avoid, the happier you'll be anyway. So I stuck to things that weren't heavily sauced and with simpler preparation. Hard to screw up a grilled striploin if the original piece of meat's any good. Service was flawless and food arrived at the correct temperature. Buffet food was better than I expected--did you try any of the Indian dishes?

Sorry to hear that. How were the 2 steakhouse restaurant? Did u try them? We are not big drinkers so we are not worried about that. So the food in the MDR was ok? Long wait? Service? How are the cabins and overall the Pearl? Is the buffert decent? Thank you very much for your input and your information.
