Review summary

our cruise was good, we had a great time the only issue was the staff service on the ship, specifically main ding areas and even the speciality ding areas, staff were so slow. this left us questioning if we would do another cruise, honestly it was so bad it was unbelievable (this was our 16th cruise and i will never go on such a big ship again) and ncl will be last cruise line i will look at if ever

Embarkation

1 out of 5
due to a storm we were we were held in a terminal from 11am till 1.30pm before anyone moved , no refreshments etc, then moved through basic security to another holding area before called in numbers to join a 1/4 mile que to board buses eventually got onto ship at 3pm, cabin not available until after 4pm

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
the food and drink was good, but i have never experienced such bad service in 16 previous cruises, we stopped going to the main dining areas and went to the buffet cafe, as it took 45mins to even be offered water in dining room never mind food orders being wrong, staff seemed untrained / or uninterested, 3 apologise from staff during one meal saying food will be soon, then we got the wrong order they were quiet no excuse for service being so bad, guest services didn't want to know

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
didnt use activities

Entertainment

4 out of 5
entertainment was good but main theatre always full, difficult to get in and comedian club was fully booked only access was standby que, to many people on ship for entertainment areas

Social Comedy & Night Club

1 out of 5

to small and fully booked from 5pm day 1

Service and Staff

1 out of 5
shocking!!!!, never experienced as poor service before, dining staff incompetent except marie avett in savour who was excellent. no other staff even gave basic service, whiskey bar staff were good, but other bars appeared to service certain customers continually and ignored others (literally spoke face to face with waiter and he walked away when i asked for a drink), they got the tips pre boarding if not i wouldn't have been giving tips, absolute disgusted with service and lack of interest from guest relations

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
ship was lovely and cabin well laid out, just to many people for the public spaces

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
excellent space lots of storage in bathroom under sink and shelves, drawers under bed etc

Ship tip

if you can cancel, and not loss money i would take my money and book with another cruise line, i wont be back on ncl for a long long time if ever

Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala

5 out of 5
went to city by cruise line tour , very interesting emerald factory, we missed the market which was seemingly interesting further down from the square, good wander and good coffee

Panama City, Panama

3 out of 5
hop on hop off bus, good way to see around we got off at the canal museum / visitor centre worth a look around and interesting cinema experience

Panama Canal Transit

4 out of 5
excellent going through locks and calm sail

Cartagena, Colombia

5 out of 5
loved this port, lovely dock area with flamingos/ monkeys/ parrots very enjoyable walk around and toilets and shops, we had a hop on hop off independently, we had to walk outside and cross a busy round to join a bus (hop on hop off connection bus) which took 1/2hr journey to reach the hop on hop bus, then 1st bus back to cruise terminal was 3pm. we jumped in a taxi after negotiating total cab ride for $10, well worth the money as there were 4 of us

George Town, Grand Cayman

5 out of 5
we chartered a private catamaran, took us out for 4hrs, only 4 of us went to stingray city / then to quiet area with stingrays and spent 1hr handling the rays on our own then went to starfish point again at our leisure

Miami, Florida

2 out of 5
got shuttle to airport $10 each person, bus from ncl was a lot more and extremely unorganised, some people took 3hrs to get on the bus, others left the que and got taxis or they would have missed their flight

Disembarkation

2 out of 5
we were okay but due to lack of organisation we could get passed queuing passengers waiting on cruise ship airport transfer

The Catamaran in Grand Cayman sounds amazing! What company did you use?

Glad you enjoyed most of it. Cruising is definitely not what it was prior to Covid.
