Review summary

We had a wonderful time and will cruise Norwegian again.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Embarkation was significantly delayed due to some problem with verifying that previous cruisers were off the ship. No one could board until everyone from the previous cruise were off the ship. The staff did the best they could under the circumstances.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Overall, the food and drinks were good. The Italian food was excellent. Options for gluten-free dining were of poorer quality and presentation that for those without dietary restrictions. The lemon sorbet was beyond excellent!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We enjoyed playing miniature golf with a fabulous view while in port. We also enjoyed racing on the motorway. Lounges were hard to come by poolside, but the pool was great.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The shows were fantastic! Footloose and Elements were the headliners and didn't disappoint. I would go back just to see the shows again. We also enjoyed the live music at the pool.

Children's Programs

We didn't travel with children.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff is excellent and worked tremendously hard to make sure that everyone has a wonderful experience.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The staff work hard to keep all areas of the ship clean at all times.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
We were delayed at being able to go to our rooms when we got on board. We we did get there, the bedside tables still had coffee rings on it which we wiped clean. The glasses were also not restocked completely until day 3. Our ship steward tried his best, but in addition to his regular duties, he also had mandatory training since he was at the start of a new contract. This gave him even less time for attention to detail. We didn't meet him until the cruise was almost over.

Ship tip

When you first get onboard, make reservations for the shows by using the app. Then make reservations for the comedy shows by going to the Social Club. The shows booked up quickly before we sailed away from Los Angeles.

Ports of call

San Pedro (Los Angeles), California

4 out of 5
Food in the area was poor at best. The area is beautiful. There's a great arts and craft warehouse right near the port.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

4 out of 5
Getting on and off the tender was very difficult. Don't plan to go ashore if you have mobility issues. We did a snorkeling excursion and had a blast! We even saw humpback whales while going to our dive site!

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

4 out of 5
We did not go on an excursion here. There wasn't much to see within walking distance of the port besides Walmart.

Mazatlan, Mexico

5 out of 5
We had a wonderful taxi driver take us to the Cathedral and the main shopping area behind it. I wish I had know about the fantastic fabric stores ahead of time.

Ensenada, Mexico

5 out of 5
There was plenty of places to explore after getting off the ship within walking distance.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
It was very smooth getting off the ship. The porters in the terminal were fantastic and finding our luggage was painless.

Thanks for the balanced review. I think the gluten free food didn’t look as good because it isn’t as good. 😊 it sounds like someone on the previous cruise didn’t want to get off the boat.
