Review summary

We had a great time with our friends and that is what made the cruise enjoyable. The larger stateroom is nice but it doesn't make up for the smaller public areas. People spend most of their time outside their room as they should. It was our first time with NCL. Not sure that we will cruise with them again.

Embarkation

1 out of 5
We arrived during our embarkation time slot and stood in line for almost an hour with the line not moving. People were still getting off the ship. After they started letting people on it went pretty smooth.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food and drinks were just ok. With other cruise lines there has always been something unusual I like to try like octopus, escargots or caviar but didn't have that here. Dissappointed. The selection on the buffet the last evening was terrible. If you didn't like asian or indian food your choice was the salad bar, hamburger bar, pizza, breaded fish, mac and cheese or pasta alfredo. The other nights we went there it had a better variety.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Trivia and game shows in the atium. Too cold for outdoor activities not a lot for indoor activities.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Performances were ok musicians were good. Never had to make reservations for shows with other cruise lines. Could get in to some of the shows because they were booked up. Entertainment spaces very small.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Servers were good. Room steward did a good job but had not idea who it was until the second to the last day. Friends with a room 3 doors from us had towel animals every day. We never had one. It's a small thing but dissappointing.

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
The ship was clean and our statement was larger than other cruiselines which was nice. The common areas lounges, atrium etc. were small and very plain, lacked glamour. The guest services and excursion counters were in the atrium so if an event was going on there it was hard to hear what the desk clerks were saying. Poor location. Atrium small and always crowed, therefore not enough seating for events. Seating in theater and common areas very uncomfortable. Couldn't sit through a show without shifting position to try and get comfortable.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
They room was larger than other cruise lines which is really nice. I would rather have more space in other areas of the ship because the only time I am in my cabin is to sleep. It was cleaned well but sometime not until 4 in the afternoon. One time I went to change for dinner at 4:15 and they were cleaning my room so I had to come back later and was do to meet friends at 5:30.

Did an excursion which we had to stand and wait for the bus in port for almost an hour. Everythign seemed very unorganized there. Other groups were just standing around waiting also. There is major work to be done with getting people out on their excusions. We were late getting to the tequila tasting and didn't have time for the food and missed the entertainment. We got back to the ship late as it was. Our tour guide was very difficult to understand. Made for a long day. I am sure she was telling us interesting information but we just could understand her. Others made the same comment. Transportation pretty shabby.

Mazatlan, Mexico

Everything was very organized to get us on our way for our excursion. The motor coach we had was very nice. Tour guide was eay to understand and very informative.

Seemed very organized and a bit ahead of schedule. Luggage was organized and easy to locate ours.

Thanks for your candid review. It seems that Norwegian isn't what it used to be. My first cruise was Norwegian in 2015.
