Review summary

- No excuse to not be vegan friendly. We won't book again a cruise without specific vegan menus, availability of soy milk and vegan mayo, etc. - The WiFi is too poor with the basic package (we only wanted to keep in touch by iMessage or email with sick family members left at home) and the implementation of their logon/logoff system is poor and not explained properly - When people spent $5000 for a week, trying to "milk" them for water isn't acceptable - One last thing: don't cheap out on toilet paper, I worked hard my whole life to get quality rolls

Embarkation

A terrible mess, but it's not NCL's fault: the L.A. port authority is terribly disorganised

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Drinks are OK, but even with the expensive drink package they try to charge you for water or expresso. If you are vegan, it's not a good ship for you, even if it's possible to find vegan food such as french fries, Indian, cheeseless pizzas, etc..

Food Republic

5 out of 5

The staff was amazing and proud to serve us the requested vegan food! It was delicious, the chef came to our table to make sure everything was fine and introduced us to his team.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
All the good stuff isn't free...

Entertainment

4 out of 5
We really enjoyed the Beatles, went to see them every time they performed!

Children's Programs

no children with us

Service and Staff

2 out of 5
Our concierge wasn't to be seen, service isn't on par with north American standards. For ex, ask for a drink at the bar, the bartender will also take the orders from people behind you to improve his productivity, at your expense... It takes 15 mn for them to find a glass of soy milk...

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
NCL's response to the need of cleanliness is to prevent people to touch anything in the cafeteria (creating line-ups everywhere), remove menus from the bars, etc. However all sliding doors aren't motion sensor, but touch-button.... same for the water taps: they should be upgraded to touchless activation, but leave people get their own orange juice!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
This is the best cabin I had to date. Could use some minor fixing (one of the 4 hooks by the door is broken, the shower door's plastic trim is broken) but overall the design, space is great

Ship tip

Bring some water, don't expect useful Wi-Fi if you get the basic Wi-Fi package,

Ports of call

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico Did not visit port

We enjoyed the ship for ourselves!

Mazatlan, Mexico Did not visit port

We enjoyed the ship for ourselves!

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

4 out of 5
we went for the basic $20/person tour of the city, which is more than enough for us. We don't like paying for expensive excursions for thinks you can do at home if you want

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Fine, we learnt our lessons and disembarked with our carry-on. Again, port authority can't be bothered to have separate areas for pick-ups and drop-offs, uber/lyft and taxis...

Vegans are the most dreadful group of human beings as a whole.

Wow, I bet you was a whole bundle of vegan fun on your cruise. The day I have to worry about the bio toilet paper or the price of a bottle of water I think I would give up...

uhleashyuh    4 years ago

The "cheap" toilet paper is that way for a reason... the sensitive septic system requires it. We wouldn't want a "poop" cruise would we? NCL is trying to be more environmentally friendly. Not like some cruise lines caught dumping where they should not.

I am Vegan, and I have no problem at all with food. They will cook and prepare anything you want. Stop your whining. !! Even the dinner shows, I was prepared meals. You are giving a bad name to people with special eating needs. We dont need whiners ruining our cruise.

Sorry Freddy I just don’t think cruise shipping is your thing. Maby a vegan friendly resort somewhere??

critter48658    4 years ago

As a vegan you can't expect everything your way. If you wanted you could have researched what food options were on board. Don't be angry at NCL because you failed to check.
