Wanted to experience Alaska and left feeling dissatisfied. Surely a better itinerary could have been conjured up. Food on ship was not vacation worthy. Other lines try much harder. Cabin was good, friends on board, excellent staff efforts made it okay, though. But we are not encouraged to return to NCL.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Well organized but having to wait until 5 pm for luggage dropped at 11 am is ridiculous.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Cagney's entrees (steaks, veal chop, fish) were good to excellent. Starters were ill-prepared and weird. Sides unimpressive and lacked crispness. Desserts average. Le Bistro-best on ship. Waitress Christine was terrific. Lamb chops best ever. Only good onion soup onboard. Tappenyaki very good main and show but salad and soup were subpar. Main DR (Manhattan) was mediocre at best. Served an inedible skimpy, oversalted steak. Service was very slow (last night). Taste and Savor were good for breakfast. Local was junk. Drink service generally ok, but spotty. Served some ill-prepared cocktails. Notable absenses; NO BAKED ALASKA, NO CRAB LEGS
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
POOL OVERCROWDED-tiny. Alaska-how about an indoor pool?
Entertainment
2 out of 5
Crew show and lounge acts were decent but 2 main shows stunk.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Ship staff was excellent. Park West staff was arrogant, slimey, rude and disrespectful.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
not enough elevators-all rude behavior experienced all week was on elevators. Need elevator etiquette course for passengers
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
all good, no complaints
Ship tip
Itinerary stinks. wouldnt do it again. Not enuff time everywhere except worthless Hoonah. 2 sea days with nothing good to do.
The Roundtrip cruises from Seattle never have much time in the ports due to the need to get back to Seattle in 7 days and the requirement to stop at a foreign port (Victoria). A one-way itinerary from Vancouver to Alaska or the reverse will give you a better experience. You missed out at ISP / Hoonah. We did a whale watching tour with Glacier Wind that was incredible.
