our jewel cruise by sandymccoycda

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Mexico

To start with, the evening performances in the Stardust theater were amazing!  When we boarded, we went to the Garden café to have lunch and were not impressed with the quality of the hot selection - the different meats were hard & dry. Our cabin steward lacked....there were several times that we returned to our cabin after being gone for extended periods of time - on ship & shore excursions that it had not been made up. While on deck, we were never offered beverage service. The crew overall were quite friendly. In past cruises, there have been "behind the scenes" tours...& never charged a fee. There were several hand rails missing on in several places. & now I see my same cruise for $200 less.

Entertainment on this ship was fantastic by cciancio

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Mexico

The nightly entertainment was the best that we had ever experienced. We had a wonderful view from our cabin. It was spacious compared to other rooms.  The food was great.  We were fortunate to have access to a gym so we exercised every morning.Happy

Pretty good overall by creyes1222

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Mexico

My husband and I have been on few different cruises (Carnival and Princess) before cruising with NCL. We thought we'd try NCL because of the price and it's tailored for families with young children as our son and his wife and their 3 children ages 13, 8, and 1 joined us on this cruise; it was their first time cruising. My brother and his family joined us as wel, and it's also their first cruise. We all had a wonderful time. All the staff at NCL were friendly and very accommodating. We like the cute towel animals left on our bed every night. The food was not as good as Princess and Carnival; however they have an area in the buffet restaurant set up for families with little kids. It had low tables and seats and enough space for little kids to walk around. I found that very thoughtful and considerate. We enjoyed all the shows every night.  Overall, we had an amazing time.

Great experience! by Stknlou

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Mexico

We did this same cruise last October and will be going again in April. We enjoyed the ship as the food was very good, service was excellent and the entertainment superb!

Only  negative were the young children running around the dance floor. That was not Norwegians fault as the parents should have controlled them.

This was my 36th cruise and I feel Norwegian gives you the most for your money.

Not Excellent by kimt465

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Mexico

The ship and staff were nice and polite and welcoming. The food was just ok. Not many selections to choose from for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The sit-down breakfasts did not have much to choose from and was not very warm. Dinner was the same every night with a few changes to the menu and not very much food. The Garden Café was the same every morning noon and night. The soft serve Chocolate ice cream was on the fritz the first 4-5 days. Activities, excursions and specialty restaurants were very expensive. It was a lot cheaper to find a tour guide at the port. Night life was extremely fun and the bands were great. Wouldn't do the Mexico trip again but would do the Caribbean or Bahamas again.

First Norwegian Experience by Marits

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Mexico

My first trip with Norwegian Cruise lines was an enjoyable one.  It was my first time spending New Years Eve on a cruise ship, and thanks to my great experience, I'd be more than willing to do it again. I'd have to say in comparison to the other cruise lines, the entertainment on Norwegian is superior, as well as their choices for dining.

Norwegian Jewel cruise by ywatsoncpa

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Mexico

The cruise was wonderful, ship crew great.  The entertainment was okay.  I would go again. The shore excursion were great, but you need to remember to reserve your tickets as soon as you get on the ship or prior if possible.  I was wait listed for one, which I did get eventually.  For the restaurants it would be good to reserve those in advance also.  We had pretty late dinner every night because they were so booked.  One gave such small portions we did need to drop in at the Garden Cafe.  Also Cucina was not good at all and the service was poor.

The cruise by jingeme

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Mexico

The accommodations, food, entertainment were all excellent.  I would recommend the cruise to anyone. The only port I would find fault with is Matzalan (spelling).  Also, the reservations at the Westin at LAX and transfers were great.

Holiday Cruise on Norwegian Jewel and Meredith by alanron

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Mexico

Meredith of cheap cruises expedited our cruise with great care, expert knowledge, hard work and a GREAT offer! It was better that Norwegian could give us! Because of her help, good humor and patience we will use Meredith on ALL future cruises. Besides a $200.00 shipboard credit, she is giving us another $100.00 credit on our charge card. No one else could match that.....Thank You Cheap Cruises and Meredith. You are very lucky to employ this young woman!

Please let her know how much we appreciate her and her time!

Enjoyable Cruise by Allen2115

We enjoyed our Mexican Riviera cruise.  There are a lot of sea days so be prepared for that.  The Specialty Dinning package was great and our shore excursions were outstanding (Sailing and Snorkeling in both Cabo and Puerto Vallarta.

terrible food and choices by gdiesen

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Mexico

this is our 12th cruise we have been on Royal and Carnival they blow norwegian out of the water when it comes to the food . it was very bland and shrimp on one night at which we were served 3 med sized shrimp.zero lobster. I really believe this is done in hopes that you will buy a specialty restaurant we did one night and it equalled what the other lines serve in their reg dining rooms. the szar dining room service was fast the azura and O sheehans was very slow.  the entertainment was 1st class room stewards and the rooms were awesome. I just cant believe they cut back the food so much.

Unbeatable unique experience cruising by pbhatnagar1989

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Mexico

Ship Quality : V good for 6 days , last day was very shaky due to heavy winds

Shows/Performances : Top Class On Board activities: Top Class

Waiter/Butler Services: Top Class Director Sin : Entertainment Guaranteed

Food : Many options (no Indian even after specifying)

Also, never ever book shore excursions they are 5 times the price .. I did all 3 port tours for less than 200$ for 5 people where as shore excursions were around 300 per port , so around 900$ total Only downside,  Indian Executive Chef (forgot his name), Art Auction Lead ( forgot his name) , Jeweller/Shopping Consultant  (Brentski) are the 3 most rudest staff I have seen .. They need to learn how to talk to customers or stop boasting about having excellent customer politeness..

Great vacation! by InlikeFlynn

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Mexico

This was our first Norwegian cruise.  We had a wonderful time!  The staff treated us great.  There was plenty of food but we thought the food wasn't quite as good as the other cruise line we've been on.  We chose an outside room and chose the cheaper price where the cruise line picks the room for you.  It was great with a large picture window.  Our bed was very comfortable.  Every evening there was a great show in the theater.  We love trivia activities and wished they had scheduled a few more.  We booked our excursions through the cruise line and loved each one!  They probably would have been less expensive to book independently but we had no worries with the bookings and they took very good care of us.  This was a great cruise and we have many wonderful memories!

Mexican Riviera November 29- Dec. 6 by dbachman1974

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Mexico

Love using Norwegian for our cruises. Everyone is so friendly. One thing that we would like to see is notifications when things have changed. We plan our trips and the cost a year in advance so if they change something we need to know and I am sure our fellow cruisers would like to know as well

Beautiful itinerary on a newly renovated ship by ehabjaber

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Mexico

The best part of this trip was the itinerary:  Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta.  I enjoyed every stop and even tried shore excursions on each, and my favourite was mountain biking in Cabo.  The entertainment was a step up from other NCL ships I have been on, but still not as good as the newest ships.  Food in specialty dining was excellent and highly recommended.  Fitness Centre activities were disappointing as some of them were cancelled for no reason.  Ship got very rocky on the last day at sea and made a lot of us queasy.  Overall, a great trip with some wonderful memories.  I would highly recommend it.

No More Norwegian for Me by 2013livit

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Mexico

I thought Norwegian might be a step up from Carnival, as was the price. I was wrong.

Poor cabin steward. Example: Upon boarding found previous gusts coffee still in pot. Steward took it to was and offered to bring it back later! Coffee is usually best in the am. 3rd bed was like a thin foam pad on a board.

My waiter. Paolo David, was the ONLY bright spot of my cruise. Attentive, professional, kind. BUT, I had to quarrel with the maître d' to sit in Paolo's section.

Food was good but not great. The was bountiful but not always kept as tidy as possible. Spills often left unattended.

Sparse entertainment. Magician, J.P., was FANTASTIC, as were the Russian aerialist/gymnast couple. We might have missed some features because the announcements were not audible in our cabin - only the passageway and Mr. Singh's English was unintelligible.

I'm sticking with Carnival while trying other lines.

NCL JEWEL VS CCL LIBERTY by sc6654

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Mexico

We did the Liberty in March and the Jewel in Nov.  We would not do NCL again.  Rooms smaller.  Food was not good and cold.  Ship was run down and dirty.

Service was good and the steak house does not compare to CCL's.  We took this cruise over CCL because of the drink package but at the end it cost about the same as CCL.

A very relaxing, wonderful week by dadmatheson

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Mexico

We had a delightful, satisfying cruise.  We found the ship to be very smooth sailing, and our cabin location on the ship was very convenient.  We especially liked the entertainment in the beautiful show room.  The seating is excellent, with enough graduation that sight lines are great from all rows and locations.  We enjoyed the open dinner time arrangement.  We ate at four of the special dining locations and especially liked the decor, the food, and the service at Cagney's and Moderno.  We found the food to be delightful at all the complimentary locations, but especially enjoyed Tsar's Palace.
