Great family vacation by rmead

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)

Family had a wonderful time. Enjoyed the food and the pool the most. My one complaint is that the tours that the ship offers are extremely expensive.

Jewel is in DENIAL by usnavyflyr

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

Norwegian is its People, very hard working people. Only wish the company would support them. Food Quality has declined since my last Norwegian Cruise.  Management makes it so hard for them tp please the customer.  Entertainment good at night but during the day it is very poor. many at sea days with nothing to do , very boring.  Customer relations is a joke on Norwegian as they try to avoid you and when you have a complaint, they try to give you a pasifier   nothing gets done.

Safe in room never worked and maintenance was unable to fix it . they tried once but then avoided me on followup calls

.  Customer service desk was always understaffed .  Specialty resturants were very good especially Madurnos. the people were amazing !

enjoyed trip by bburgy

Best part of cruise was the limited smoking on board.  We could use our balcony without having the smoke from the balconies next to us chase us into our stateroom because of NCL no smoking on balconies rule.

NCL Jewel by vickyvschiele

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

Best part of crusie was the staff.  Very good.  Our room has horrible.  We requested to change rooms but were told to wait that on move in day it is always loud.  We waited two days and then told the ship was full. The food was all good.  Most ports not so good.

Norwegian is Always a Winner by sheiksan

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

We've done a few cruises on Norwegian and all have been great.  The experience through the Panama Canal was wonderful; they brought on board an employee of the Panama Canal Authority to narrate the entire day.  14 days seemed a bit long to us, but we wanted to do the full transit; so in that regard it was worth doing.  Entertainment and food was wonderful as usual.  We weren't so happy with the featured Souled Out Band; they were pretty good but the way they performed their songs just didn't quite resonate; I think it was because they had their certain sound and all songs morphed to it rather than sounding like the original renditions.  Would have been nice if they provided educational sessions in advance of the ports we visited to give a greater appreciation of the countries.  Gym was good but the aerobics room was occupied so often that it made it hard to do stretching, etc. without imposing on those in the main exercise area.  Staff service was stellar.

Norwegian Jewel Cruise through the Panama Canal by ronaldpandolfi

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

It was a 14 day cruise with a great itinerary. We enjoyed all the ports.

We did face some problems on the ship (we have traveled with Norwegian several times and even on the Jewel to Alaska). Our bathroom flooded with flooded the entire room. We had to move rooms and then after a couple of days returned to our original room because we were sent to another room that was not fully functional and in the rear of the ship (too much noise that we could not use our balcony). I do wish we did not have to waste 2 days in moving from one cabin to another and then back. It was very stressful. The staff did try to do their best to accommodate us. We received a credit and dinner for the family at the restaurant of our choice. The Hotel Director also sent us a bottle of wine and chocolate dipped strawberries.

We have enjoyed many cruises with Norwegian, we do hope to return, but not on the Jewel.

Excellent Panama Canal Experience by latitude4738

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

The ship and friendly staff were excellent.  We had wonderful weather, lots of sun and calm seas.  The ship was a nice "size" and never felt overly crowded.  Shore excursions booked through NCL were very good considering some of the ports have limited sites to see.  The food was consistently good.  Teppanyaki is always full of fun, and Moderno's was a new experience for us with excellent food.  Fourteen days passed quickly and the six at-sea days were full on things to do.

Most of the evening entertainment was excellent, but not to impressed with the MoTown on the last night.  The captain was excellent and provided more news and info for the passengers than on any other cruise we have been.  An excellent cruise experience.

Panama Canal Star of the cruse by almerkel

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

Panama Canal was the main attraction.  Some of the ports were difficult to get to shopping.  Food was ok.  Specialty restaurants were not always good.  Chin Chin was espeaclly bad with food arriving cold and overcooked./

The NCL Jewel is a great ship; by rogerm52

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

The Jewel is well run, the stops were very good, took several excursions and they were for the most part very good and informative. Found the Stardust theater was a bit cool at times. Maria was very helpful on getting us positioned (room wise) so we could see the most from our balcony going through the Canal. Not many kids on this trip because of the length. It was hot even in December. Weather held up nicely. All in all a great trip.

Great time in Cabo! by LilDame17

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: North America

As a family that loves Cabo and wanted a quick getaway this is the perfect itinerary. The ship stays in the bay, and has tenders running all night. It made it easy to play on the beach all day, go get cleaned up and then also experience the Cabo night life.

NIce Cruise by cruise49719133

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: North America

This was nice comfortable cruise. I really have no detractors. Entertainment was very good. I have a 15 year old and a 10 year old and both loved the kids program. Cabin was small but comfortable and functional. Food was good but not exceptional. We aren't drinkers but got the ultimate Beverage package as our freebee when we booked. Definitely drank more than I normally would but they made money on me. I saw people complaining about drink type and strength, but honestly the drinks were well made and of appropriate strength.  It was nice just to order whatever I wanted without mentally clicking off $11 per drink like I normally do and had many soft drinks too.

just the right amount of vacation! by llowenbe

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: North America

We've done a number of cruises with NCL, but we had never done a 5 night cruise. This was just right. For the 7 night cruises, we start to get really homesick on day 6 and really ready to go home on day 7. This was wonderful. I especially loved being in port overnight. That allowed us to go on multiple excursions to see more of Cabo.

We got the beverage package and the dining package. The beverage package made our many trips to the bar so easy! And the dining package allowed us to go to the specialty restaurants that we were always looking at. I can't say enough wonderful things about the specialty restaurants. We went to Cagney's, Moderno, and La Cucina.

We didn't go to the pool or the hot tub because there were too many people, but we found lots of places for reading. We did go to all of the art auctions and seminars. Those are always fantastic. The art team was very helpful with making sure that we got the pieces that we wanted. That was probably the highlight of our vacation!

The Jewel is a jewel by laurieiverson

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Mexico

Our family truly enjoyed our 7-day cruise to the Mexican Riviera.  The excursions met our expectations and the food was delicious. However, it was a shame the lobster meal cost an extra $24.99.  That would have been over $100 extra for our family. ( We had a free lobster meal on the Norwegian cruise to Alaska a few months ago  and a free lobster meal on Celebrity across the Atlantic.)   On the plus side, the Norwegian staff is truly remarkable--extremely helpful and friendly.  The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of storage for our belongings. The entertainment was superb!  Much better than we've seen before.  We would definitely recommend anyone to travel on the Norwegian Jewel.

Honeymooners Aboard by zenner0105

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Mexico

Favorite part of the cruise was that there plenty of activities to do - day and night. Food was excellent - lot of selections and choices. Out steward, Su Fnu kept our stateroom tidy and is friendly. Great personality!

One thing I would recommend is to lessen the days At Sea. I feel like two full days at sea (going to Mexico and returning from Mexico) would suffice. The 2 1/2 days straight At Sea gave us a cabin fever.

Will definitely recommend!

Low Budget cruise was awesome! by carrieperez

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Mexico

The Mexican Riviera stops in Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan and Cabo which are all beautiful. We went on excursions to all three places but my favorite was in Puerto Vallarta to an excusion called Las Caletas Hideaway .  It's a private beach with hammocks, chairs, snorkeling, zip lining, slides, etc. We were surprised the drinks were unlimited and free! Also included was a buffet .  The boat ride over to it is about 45 min. but they entertain you both ways and they are hilarious .  It's the  perfect day. Parasailing in Cabo is pretty awesome too. Afterwards take a water taxi for $3 each, each way to the  beaches and go to the Sand Bar near the Office restaurant it's a lot cheaper. Eat, drink and hang out on their lounge chairs for the rest of the day.  I absolutely loved this cruise. The entertainment on the ship was amazing with comedians ,  magician, cirque acrobatic show, dancing, singing, etc. You will not be bored. We stayed  in a cheap interior state room. We were out and about so much, it didn't matter. This is the biggest bang for your buck!

REALLY NICE CRUISE by elestina

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Jewel / Destination: Mexico

Loved the cruise.  Food was great.  Best prime rib I've had in awhile at find dining.  I saw more of and talked with the hotel director more than any other cruise I've taken.  He is really a hands-on person in assisting his staff whenever he can.  The staff at Vallarta Adventures did and excellent job with our excursions.  The onboard activites were fun though I did not see any towel folding (may have missed it).
