Review summary

Last minute deal. Great Value with NCL . Once in a lifetime cruise that really only needs to be done once.

Embarkation

Smooth and easy. Got transfer from Quick chat with deal

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Good was steamed mushy and lack lustre for us except for teppanyaki which was deliciously entertaining. Our favourite meal by far. Good restaurants are only open for a short time if you eat on schedule and big buffet closed for late breakfast. We enjoyed eat where and when you please but found options were limited.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Hot tubs not hot enough for a chilly climate. Grab a robe from the spa early in. It will be invaluable

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Stage shows excellent. Musician ok.

Children's Programs

Not travelling with small kids.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Very nice as expected. Nothing extraordinary.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Clean be well maintained. Re design: would prefer humidor with a view didn’t like the mid level Tsar palace making it impossible to get thru. Had to go around and outside in the bad weather or down and back up for buffet.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Nice and quiet plus comfy layout with twin beds for our mother and son trip. Port hole was handy to see light of day, if we were still moving or docked and what the weather was like.

Ship tip

Be prepared to buy Starbucks because normal coffee was very bad. Americano misto was the best value.

Ports of call

Seward (Anchorage), Alaska

4 out of 5
Anchorage was cute small town with good restaurants. Absolutely need a reservation. We eventual walked in to Orso and loves the salmon with gin and vodka tasting flights for only $15 for 3 x2 oz

Cruise Hubbard Glacier

4 out of 5
Relaxing day at sea

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

3 out of 5
Tourist trap. $50 usd gondola was a rip off since all the trails were closed due to bear sightings. Hard pass on the $22 pp cultural show was disorganized but felt like we were supporting the locals. Avoid the long lineups at gondola to the right as the very best part was the hike to Crab House for snow crab a blood mary which is a meal in itself. Tip: go straight to the bar and avoid 40 min lineup to order.

Juneau, Alaska

No excursions necessary and all were cancelled due to weather but jewelery shopping for gold nuggets is at its finest although. I estimated minimum 30 gem shops. Better price at Infinity in Anchorage. Gary’s jewelery store custom designed earrings and a ring at a fair price and had it set in less than 1 hr then drive me back to the dock. First class.

Skagway, Alaska

4 out of 5
Nice town. We took White Pass Rail. A world class feat of engineering. The one hour ascent to summit. Recommend sitting of left side which we found exciting. We slept on the 1 hr way down (boring). Northern lights were seen from our ship at night which was the highlight of our trip. Unpredictable and unexpected treat.

Ketchikan, Alaska

4 out of 5
Lumberjack show is the best. Cute town and lots of souvenir shops even right in the pier.

Cruise Inside Passage, Alaska

4 out of 5
If it’s a clear day not too misty you will see tree covered hills and snow coverd mountains behind. Smooth sailing.

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

5 out of 5
Gorgeous city. We stayed with family and did pitch and putt golf, saw pair of bald eagles up close, sushi, out for pizza, seafood feast from Lobster Man at Granville and Public Market and walk around Rec Beach.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We slept in as long as possible up at 8;30, went for coffee and Easy walk off at 9am
