Read the above items but disappointed enough that I will not be cruising with NCL in the future
Embarkation
3 out of 5
Fair and easy but not real organized
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
The main dining room food was very low quality. The specialty restaurants were better but missing and unavailable food, they ran out of lettuce, duck, sea bass, wine, diet coke, coke zero during the cruise just to name a few things. When it came to the buffet if the meat where any tougher it could be used for shoes. They ran out of artificial sugar which was frustrating for a diabetic such as myself. Just not enjoyable and nowhere near the standard that I have had on other cruise lines.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
Very minimal - same things every day - small items here and there and not much to do int he evening at all.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
I have to say the nightly shows were pretty good. A couple fall asleep ones and others that were pretty good.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
While our dining room waiter was great and certain bar staff which I made sure to return to the others left so much to be desired. No smile, acted as if they did not want you there or that it was a problem to serve you. Very little smiling and fun.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
Older ship and very basic design. The sheep seemed very clean so no issue there but as basic as you can get.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
The bed was hard, the slider whistled as night badly so had to unlock and open slightly at night while sailing, THE WORST WAS THE SHOWER - first the online layout shows it as a tub with shower, there is no tub. The shower has a drain at one end and the whole floor sloped away from the drain so when you are done int eh shower a 1/2 inch of water remains in the bottom. Nothing better than stepping into the water the next morning.
Ship tip
Do not have high expectations, eat in the specialty restaurants as it will be better than dealing with second rate food in the dining room.
It was nice sailing, it was cool to see the locks but was just not what was expected and if you wanted to observe from the front of the ship you had to fight the crowd.
You really do not get to see Costa Rica you are very far out from the city. The excursion takes you to the local town you port in and you see the jungle and river.
Nice little town, did a catamaran which was poor, looked at some bays, stopped at one to take a swim - if you wanted a mask it cost you $15 bucks, the beach was completely empty, no shade, no people, no nothing. Went back and got off. Had some beers on the way and margaritas made out of tequila with fresca. Very small shops int he area dn that was it.
Been here but has a great excursion riding camels but the stay time in the Port was SO SHORT we had just enough time to do this and then have get on the ship as we left by 1:30 in the afternoon. Not time to do hardly anything!
We all have had our expectations shattered if you cruised a few times. The main point I make to myself is...if i pay less for the cruise i am not nearly as upset as the people who paid double, triple or? I cruise on the low down inside cabin lol. I will never forget the couple who went on there first cruise balcony with everything $5,000 and me and my brother got our ticket 7 days before sailing for $400 plus gratuities and port charges in our own cabin on Princess. It just happened the ship had a engine issue and was late to every Alaskan Port and all or most excursions were cancelled. This trip of a life time turned into a angy time for this couple....i get it...what made it even worse was when the captain said he was going to refund $200 back to every passenger for the inconvience...this really hurt the guy even more. Me and my brother paid $200 for 7 days. Try not to over pay folks cause Weather, Mechanical, Passenger or now Social Conflicts (wars) affect over 50% of the cruises i have taken to date. I have cruised 30 times. See you at Sea!!
