Review summary

The glaciers were the best part. I wouldn't advise anyone to cruise this area this late in the season. Too rainy and the ports were mainly small and poor.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Getting onboard was quick and easy.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The specialty restaurants were the best places to eat, but that is an extra charge. The buffet was average, the main dining room was pretty but the food wasn't that good. The Tsar's Palace was our favorite place to eat, which was not an extra charge! Beautiful and very good food.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Played some games, like bingo and Deal or No Deal. Too cold for the pools, and as the ship was smaller, not much else to do but shuffleboard. Cruise too long for such a small boat.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The performers were good, and there was a variety of shows. Those were fun!

Children's Programs

No kids with us.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Our room steward was excellent, Curt! Very attentive and super friendly. Staff in bars were nice, but bartender Pauline was excellent as well! Very nice and helpful. They made our trip!

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
It was clean generally, the seats in the O'Sheehan's bar needed some close up attention. Some of the hallways were confusing, took a while to find our way for most of the trip.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Was a good size for 2, but not for anymore. Too small for more though advertised as big enough for 4. Room was kept nice and well stocked by our room steward Curt.

Ship tip

Take your time learning your way around, it's very confusing! Be patient, a lot of people in a small space. The buffet was a zoo!

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington

Wandered the waterfront, a variety of shops, great food at Elliott's and The Fisherman.

Ketchikan, Alaska

4 out of 5
Largest port we stopped in, did tour of the area, interesting but was hoping to see wildlife, mainly saw totem poles. Had a good lunch there at Annabelle's! Other places were small and dirty.

Juneau, Alaska

Went to salmon hatchery and Meldenhall glacier. Rainy day so was hard to enjoy. But very cool to see!

Skagway, Alaska

3 out of 5
Another rainy day, not as bad as the last port. Town was very small, went on train ride, VERY EXPENSIVE! Scenery was pretty but the train was uncomfortable. Seats old and hard. Need to make them cushier. Thought we were going farther than we did. Red Onion Saloon was the highlight of this stop! Fun place, but risqué!

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

Nothing to do here, don't know why we stopped. Another rainy day too. Town very poor.

Sitka, Alaska

3 out of 5
Nice little town, at least they had shops and tours! Went to Bear Fortress, a sanctuary, only time we saw any. Small but informative. Pretty little cathedral in center of town. Dined at WestMark, good food and nice atmosphere.

Prince Rupert, British Columbia

Larger town but no stores except the smallest WalMart in the world! The "Mall" had about 3 stores open. Very hilly so we got our exercise trying to find something to do or somewhere to eat! Another senseless stop.

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

4 out of 5
Final stop, big city with lots of shops and restaurants. Interesting sky ride, but harder than heck to get a taxi when disembarking the ship!

Disembarkation

Took forever to get off the boat and get a taxi into town. Had us running all over the place, on the boat and in the terminal. Waited 1/12 hours in line to get a taxi.
