The Getaway was refurbished 5 years ago and is due to be refurbished again soon, including new carpets. All cruise ships are dry docked every 5 years. As for the sushi, 99% of the sushi fish you buy at land-based restaurants is flash frozen at the time it is processed in the fish processing plant. This is nothing unusual. Much of this fish is processed thousands of miles away from the point of use, and it is not economically feasible to ship it fresh. Only the very high end restaurants use fresh fish for sushi, and it’s sent overnight, so it’s still 24-48 hours old by the time of consumption.
