Review summary

Great ship, lovely crew, good ports. Combine that with a well designed ship that was less than half full and it’s difficult to beat.

Embarkation

From dropping my case off outside the port to having a drink handed to me at the first bar on the ship was just over 20 minutes, wonderful.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
I found the main dining rooms to be great, wonderful service and the kind of food I've come to expect from Norwegian, never a bad meal. The buffet did the job when needed, decent variety and always seats available.

Shanghai's Noodle Bar

5 out of 5

Lovely noodles and some great starters, don’t go missing out on pot stickers!

Le Bistro French Restaurant

5 out of 5

LeBistro was a step above the rest, amazing service and lovely food.

Sugarcane Mojito Bar

5 out of 5

Brilliant bartenders and waiters, the staff here really went out of their way to make you feel special.

Mixx Bar

5 out of 5

If you are heading here before dinner, be sure to ask for Beverley, she was brilliant and seemed to love the challenge of finding ‘your’ cocktail.

Cagney's Steakhouse

5 out of 5

Cagney's was lovely the only thing i couldn't quite grasp being the $5 up-charge for a crab cake starter, good non the less.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The Burn the floor show in the main theatre is not to be missed, I also loved Howl at the moon, the guys there loved to be kept on their toes and were so good at keeping the house rocking.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
With a ship as well designed as The Getaway it’s difficult to go wrong, combine that with it being only at 35% capacity and a great time was to be had. Enough people to give the ship an atmosphere but always room for whatever you wanted to do. The ship was gleaming, with the crew always on the look out for something to clean, reset or paint.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
As a first time solo traveler I really wasn’t sure about the whole Studio experience, I shouldn’t have worried though. My cabin steward David had the place spotless and really looked after me. It’s a tight space but perfectly adequate for one.

Ship tip

Do a bit of homework on the excursions, most ports could just be walked into so don’t go booking something just so you know you can get off the ship.
