Review summary

The NCL Getaway is a very large ship. It is well maintained and clean. At the time of our sailing it was only about 25% capacity. This was a good thing as the pool deck was not open because of the cold weather. Had the ship been full it would have been very crowded without the pool deck. As it was there were never any lines. The staff was exceptional, friendly, helpful, and professional. Captain Gkokas was the most friendly and involved Captain I have ever had. He added much to the trip. I love NCL!!!

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Everyone was great but it was a long process and there was no priority boarding.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We actually ate more in the specialty restaurants, O'Sheehans and the buffet. The Main dining rooms really didn't offer much of a choice and the desserts were nothing special.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Because of the cold weather, the pool deck was never open. There is no longer a rock climbing wall. The fitness center was well equipped and we used it almost daily.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
There was excellent entertainment but aside of the 2 main broadway shows most took place in small bar areas. So not many were able to attend because they filled up quickly.

Children's Programs

No children and the children';;e program was not open.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The service was excellent. I couldn't ask for it to be any better.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Every area was very clean. The ship is very large. I did miss having a pinnacle area to relax, read, etc. and watch the ship sail. There didn't seem to be any of these places like in the smaller ships. And with the cold weather we couldn't use the pool deck.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We were upgraded to a mini suite with a balcony. It was ample in size and very comfortable and clean. There was plenty of storage.

Ship tip

This ship is huge. Be sure to reserve your dinners, shows and what ever else you would like to attend as soon as possible.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
It was the easiest I have ever experienced. we just walked off the ship and didn't have to show a thing or go through any immigration. There were no lines and our suitcases were easily found..
