Never again on this ship that was overcrowded and missed 2 ports; would rather have done it on my own on the ferry through the fjords and flights to Iceland & Scotland.
Embarkation
3 out of 5
Efficiently run
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Pretty good food, especially in Savor & Taste restaurants; food not so good in huge, crowded Garden Cafe; unpleasant dining experience there, but good service in Savor restaurant
Onboard Activities
1 out of 5
Too cold for most outdoor activities; ship designed for warm weather cruising; especially bad was the library, which contained a poor selection of books in a space that was shared but completely dominated by the card room.
Entertainment
2 out of 5
I found the entertainment too commercial, boring and game showy; I hated the canned music, mostly disco & hiphop that was constantly pumped out over the speakers
Children's Programs
Almost no kids on board
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
Good service in restaurants, courteous & professional wait staff
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
Not so well laid out for cold weather cruising, but very clean
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Very comfortable & clean minimalist space was good refuge from the crowds
Great city; I paid $39 USD for NCL’s very poorly organized 10 minute bus ride into the city that cost twice as much as a taxi would have cost; ripoff!!!
We were on the same cruise and agree that the ship was too crowded. The food in main dining rooms and specialty restaurants was good but the Garden Cafe wasn’t the best. Most of the entertainment in the theatre was the same as when we sailed on the Getaway in 2015. Thankfully there was a great band in Syd Norman’s Pour House. For a large ship there didn’t seem to be a lot to do. Won’t go on the Getaway again but will stick with NCL and cruise smaller ships. We sailed on the Jewel in January and really enjoyed it.
Seems like there were lots of issues with the ship sponsored excursions. This is one reason we rarely ever take ship excursions. The independent excursions are generally less crowded, last longer and are cheaper.
