Review summary

Great cruise - zero complaints. Third time on Gem but Chloe Barry’s Adele tribute was new. Also Randon the guitarist. Enjoyed Garden Cafe food and our interior room. What wonderful ports!

The Great Outdoors open air cafe space is the best! Enjoyed meals and relaxing overlooking the ocean or beautiful ports.

Zakynthos, Greece

NCL excursion Panoramic Zakynthos. Extensive tour of the island. Pretty good but not great. Corfu was much better. Maybe should have gone to a beach.

Koper, Slovenia

Did Taste of Slovenia excursion. Enjoyed seeing seaside towns with a wonderful tour guide Andi. Some tastings good - cake, ice cream - others took too much time (wine, tapas), so maybe should have skipped. Great tour and value, overall - with or without tastings.

Mykonos, Greece

Enjoyed walking around town early before the crowds arrived. Took city bus from Fabrica bus station to Ornos Beach and had a great swim. Sunbeds expensive so just sat on towels to the right, looking at the sea. Then wandered around town again - much busier - before returning to the ship.

Venice, Italy

Okay, so we skipped Venice but had a wonderful day in Trieste. Visited Miramare castle in the morning and then walked around town to see the main square, Roman amphitheater and castle on the hill. There’s an elevator to the castle in the back of the underground parking lot by the amphitheater. Beautiful port - glad we stayed!

Dubrovnik, Croatia

Got city bus (outside port gates on the street - not the port bus station). Walked around the old town. Got cable car and had a drink overlooking Dubrovnik.

Corfu, Greece

Excellent tour with shore excursions. Took a boat ride to caves in Paleokastritsa. Excellent tastings and stops, ending up downtown Corfu. Great guide and driver.

Santorini, Greece

NCL excursion was good. Santorini was pretty but over crowded. Worth seeing once, but wouldn’t go again.

Kotor, Montenegro

Walked around the old town and swam at the local beach, just past the park with e boat trips. Loved swimming in the fjord. Take swim shoes as pebbles are hot. No excursion.
