Review summary

For those living in or close to New York City, this is a wonderful cruise to do.  Four great Eastern Caribbean islands - without having to fly!  The overall cruise is 10 days so that means 5 sea days (yes!!) in addition to the 4 island ports.  And the Norwegian Gem, by today's standards is definitely a small ship (less than 2400 passengers) and that means a cozier, less frantic cruise experience.  The Gem was last drydocked and refurbished just in November 2015 so it is in prime shape.

The only "problem" with doing a Haven Courtyard Penthouse is that is raises the bar for all future cruises.

Ship tip

If you are planning to dine in specialty restaurants, make your reservations well ahead of your sailing date so that you get the days and times you prefer.
