Worst cruise experience of our life, we heard rumors of the poor experiences and having had a decent trip on the NCL Escape we were fooled to try them a second time.
Norwegian Epic Cruise Review to Europe - Mediterranean
We suggest you get clear directions from somebody regarding souvenirs and gifts(if you can), the security wouldn't give us this information when asked, it isn't posted (we took pictures) , even the CS won't comment regarding clarification. We asked CS desk twice for the prohibitive items list as the first request they were refusing. They use the clause of Security can deny items (but not state what items) to cover themselves to do or say whatever they want up to and including harassing you or in my case threatening to leave you at port for inquiring about it. Even the staff told us everything is allowed as long as they don't see it, what sort of answer is that?
Embarkation
1 out of 5
They delayed the arriving cruise dissembarkation and when they finally allowed us on it was a two hour unorganized line. Worst boarding experience of my life no seating and no organization. None of the assigned appointment times were considered it was a complete mess.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
Food was some of the worst ever we have been on about every major cruise line the dishes were often bland, not the actual item just a renamed item, and many items were out of stock. No actual real cream for coffee in the buffet, constantly running out of tea bags.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
The atmosphere was dreary an dull
Entertainment
3 out of 5
For the entertainers that were there it was good, but disappointed no comedy shows or if they had it it was near non existent and they put other venues in the comedy club instead.
Service and Staff
2 out of 5
Security staff threatened to remove me from the cruise in Greece when I asked for clarification on the souvenirs and gifts. The actual policy and that printed in the ship is vague and only gives dangerous items list. When asked the security staff refused to give me a copy of the list and only said fruits and vegetables are not allowed. They discontinued allowing sodas and I recommend you don't sample your gifts if you get extra for yourself as I was harassed and forcible told to eat mine before boarding or else. I submitted formal complaints to NCL, BBB, and the onboard customer service desk regarding Mr. Peter Owens their security supervisor who made the threat to me in Greece. Only giving two stars for the sake of housekeeping and restaurant staff only.
Ship Quality
2 out of 5
Toilet wasn't working and numerous issues with the elevators. Wasn't clear designed layout some floors didn't connect and the information boards were lacking.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Good, however toilet stopped working after just a few days.
Ship tip
Had the worst experience of my life, even the anniversary cake given was for us practically inedible and poor quality. Cruisers were rude and closing the elevators without waiting for others.
Certainly sounds like you were also being vague in asking what you can bring on board. NCL has a list of prohibited items posted on its website that tells you exactly what you can’t bring on the ship. Seems you wanted to find issues in everything based on one experience.
You are vague about the security issue. What were you trying to bring as a souvenir on the ship? I doubt Mr Owen alone can kick someone off the cruise especially not for "JUST" asking questions. If your complaint was as vague as this post it's probably going nowhere but the trash
Thanks for sharing. Your complaint about vagueness on the cruise line's part is equally vague because you don't describe what you were trying to bring on board. The cruise line has a Contract of Carriage which should tell you what you can and cannot bring on board. Why drag an employee into the mix as the sole judge, then complain when you don't get the outcome you expect? If there is a chance an item is prohibited, it probably is. Get over it and don't let it ruin your cruise.
