Review summary

We often cruise after a 3 or 4 day stay in a port city. This has always provided a great flavor of the culture and countries we visit. This cruise was no exception. We were disappointed in the accommodations with Norwegian Epic. The rooms were extremely small and the bathroom situation is uninhabitable for 2 people. Again - with the purchase of the spa package - we made the best of a bad situation.

Embarkation

It was amazing how easy and fast we began our vacation

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
We were disappointed several times with our dining experiences. The restaurants were understaffed from the hostess at the front desk to the servers and busboys in the dining rooms.

Onboard Activities

The pools seemed to "not be filled" - we actually thought there was a problem.

Fabulous shows throughout the cruise!

Service and Staff

Our room steward was amazing - always available and accommodating.

Ship Quality

We loved the adult only area

Cabin / Stateroom

The cabin was very disappointing. We had read all of the "reviews" about the bathroom layout but this was way worse than we imagined. My cabin mate purchased the spa package so that we could get ready each night for dinner because there was absolutely no room for 2 people in our cabin at one time.

Ports of call

Barcelona, Spain

We do not do many excursions and had stayed in Barcelona 3 days prior to boarding the ship. It was a great time and saw all of the hot spots - fabulous dining and wonderful city.

Naples, Italy

We did the Amalfi coast - Positano and Sorrento - Absolutely beautiful. We hired a car with a driver for the day.

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

We went to the beach in Santa Marinella. We rented chairs and umbrellas and enjoyed some authentic culture seaside with very few tourists. It was a very, much needed, relaxing day,

Livorno (Florence & Pisa), Italy

5 out of 5
We explored Florence without an excursion since some of us had been to Florence before and some had not. I love Florence - great food, great shopping, and great history/culture.

Cannes, France

The port is absolutely beautiful and we did take the tour train which was very informative. We loved the open market but not at all impressed with "things to do". The town was hosting a festival, which apparently occurs quite often. No beaches were available for public use. The town is very expensive and buji (sp). Transportation was also an issue due to the festival. Glad we saw it but 1/2 day would have been plenty

Palma De Mallorca, Balearic Islands

This was my favorite! What a cathedral! And the artisan market was so much fun. I will be visiting the rest of Mallorca on a future trip!

Disembarkation

Again - Amazingly easy
