Review summary

We planned the cruise in the middle of our vacation. Hence the cruise was very relaxing and enjoyable. We had visited Italy before the cruise and we stayed in Barcelona a few more days after the cruise. During the cruise, the seven days went by fast as we went on 5 excursions. Every port of call gives us a different taste of the local culture. The excursions are usually 4 to 5 hours leaving us time to come back to the ship for lunch and rest in the afternoon.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was fast and easy. We dropped off the luggage from where the taxi left us. The check in was quick and efficient. We were on the boat in less than 40 minutes.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food is excellent. I like the many special made to order stations in the buffet. I also like having theme nights in the buffet.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
OK, we are not much of an onboard activities person.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Entertainment is first class. We went to a number of concerts. More variety shows would also be nice.

Children's Programs

I did not have any children on board.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
All service personnel were friendly and helpful.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The two sets of opposing elevators in fore and aft are very confusing. One has to resort to looking at posted signs to find one's room. (Usually with only one set of elevators aft or fore, I know exactly to turn left or right.)

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Cabin is spacious. My only complaint is that the TV is too small and one has to pay to watch movies. I am not sure about the sink on the work table. I got dripping soap and water all over.

Ship tip

Explore every deck as early as possible to determine what you like. There are many things hidden on various decks. It took some exploring to find the jogging trail. I never saw the bowling lanes.

Ports of call

Barcelona, Spain Did not visit port

No time. We flew in and went to the port directly.

Marseille (Provence), France

4 out of 5
We had Easy Marseille and we enjoyed the coach taking us to all the interesting places.

Cannes, France

4 out of 5
We had the Golden Corniches and really enjoyed the scenery on the French Riviera

Livorno (Florence & Pisa), Italy

4 out of 5
The trolley ride to the Tower of Pisa was a life saver.

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

3 out of 5
We visited Tarquinia and the Estrucans. That was OK.

Palma De Mallorca, Balearic Islands

3 out of 5
We visited Palma and Valledossa. On hind sight, I would rather like to visit the Pearl factory.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We had easy walk off. No hassles, no waiting. The waiting comes when waiting for a taxi in the terminal.
