Fantastic and worth every penny. I have no serious negatives. Both the excursions and the boat were top notch. The service on the boat was great, the food was good to great. I loved it.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Embarkation was fine and not confusing. We got there around Ten and were on board by 11:30. We had to wait for a bit to get on. The only negative was it took awhile to get our luggage, but that's not really a big deal. We ate lunch at OSheehans and walked around the ship.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
The food was good to very good. When we paid extra, we got excellent like the Cirque meal, which was worth every penny. We ate in Moderno twice and we loved it, it also wasn't as crowded as the other restaurants. The buffet was good but not great, I loved the pizza but generally hated all the eggs. We ate at taste once and it was fine. We really liked OSheehans and ate there many times.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
For us, this was a port intensive trip, so we didn't do many onboard activities. LOoved the Cirque. The hot tubs were good. The onboard music was great, we loved Paulo the guitarist in Maltings bar. After a hard day of touring, listening to him and relaxing with a glass of wine was great.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Cirque was worth every penny. The onboard music was great.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Our room stewerd, Gilbert, was top notch; always available and helpful and cheerful. He was the best. All the bartenders were great, many were smiling and cheerful. Not one seemed glum or rude, and we used many of them during the cruise.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
The ship is very clean. Our room was super clean. It's the ships layout that was a bit yucky. I seriously miss the fish on the rug, I kept getting turned around the wrong way. I don't enjoy walking thru the long and usually empty casino so often, just to get somewhere else.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
We had no problems with the unusual cabin configuration, nor with the uncovered balcony, since we are from Florida, we are used to sun, so the balcony was fine by us. I think the room might be tight with 3 people. The curved couch wasn't comfortable for prolonged sitting.
We did the "Free Walking Tour" of the Gothic area of the city. It's online to book. If you like history, it's great. We used "Barcelona Day Tours" who picked us and our luggage up after the cruise. We saw Park Guell and the Sagrada Familia, then they dropped us at our hotel. A very good tour. We ate at "Guell Tapas" in the gothic quarter, very good Paella. We walked Las Ramblas and stopped at the market which was great.
We did Pompeii with a NCL excursion. Our guide Guido was great. It was a fabulous tour. The walking was rough, this trip is not for people with disabilities.
We did an NCL excursion, seeing the Trevi fountain, the Fourum, The Colleseum (inside & out) and St Peters Basilica. The tour was fast paced and a lot of walking. Also their was a long wait at St Peters; even so it was a great tour. A nice lunch was included. Our guide, lisabeta and Letizia were great and very knowledgeable.
We did an NCL excursion seeing an elevated view of the city, 2 churches, David and the bridge. Our guide Sami was great, his knowledge is super, I learned so much. He gave us time when seeing David and his information was enlightening. One of my fav tours of this trip.
This port was the surprise of the trip and my favorite excursion. It was an NCL excursion seeing Nice and its market, driving the Middle Cornich road (not if u have a fear of heights) and visiting a hilltop medieval town called Eze. I fell in love with Nice it's so quaint and not so crowded, so beautiful. The ride was breathtaking, the view just stunning.
This trip was okay but not great and by this time we were getting tired. If I had it to do over again I'd have stayed onboard in the hot tub. The city is clean and the cathedral is fantastic, but it is very commercial, loads of shops everywhere. Selling pearls is the specialty here.
