Review summary

After several NCL cruises over the years some of the officers and crewmembers have become friends. On the first day, it was like homecoming to see their friendly faces. They smiled when they saw me, and when they said, "welcome home" I appreciated their greeting.

Embarkation

Easy and quick. Our group was given priority boarding, hence the only line we were in was the security line.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
I thought they were all wonderful and provided a lot of choicees. I would suggest cutting back on salt.

Entertainment

I had already seen all the shows in the past, but I went to watch the Beatles Invasion again. They are so enjoyable and I never tire of listening to them.

Children's Programs

Adults only trip

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The people who work on NCL ships have a common denominator—their positive attitudes. They are very helpful and courteous, and they make cruising enjoyable. They make me feel like I’m the only passenger on the ship. One of the cruisers in my party is a first-time cruiser. She was impressed with the treatment we received and the perks that were extended to her. Thank you NCL ENCORE!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
My fourth cruise on Encore. No issues with cleanliness or maintenance of common areas. Their clean-up crews were visible everywhere.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
I thought the bed was very comfortable because I slept soundly each night. The size was adequate for two adults. The room was clean when I first entered it, and my steward made sure it stayed clean.

Ship tip

The elevators get crowded at peak times, so I occasionally took the stairs. But my tip would be that if a person wants to go down, sometimes it's worth it to ride up up first and then go down to the desired floor. This also works going the opposite direction.

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington

No. I'm from this area.

Juneau, Alaska

5 out of 5
Juneau is one of my favorites, however, it took a long time to get on the shuttle to town. Once we were dropped off, we went straight to the tram station to ride the tram to Mt Roberts. Beautiful view up there, regardless of the snow and rain. But that's Alaska!

Skagway, Alaska Did not visit port

It was breezy and cold, and I chose to stay indoors.

Cruise Glacier Bay

5 out of 5
I really enjoy this part of the cruise and appreciate the fact that the Forest Rangers are brought on board to talk about the area. For the size of our ship, I was amazed that we were able to get as close as we did.

KETCHIKAN (WARD COVE), ALASKA

5 out of 5
Our stay was too, too short. But I had been here several times in the past so it didn't bother me, other than the fact that I could only stay less than 2 hours because there was a 7-mile shuttle ride.

Victoria, British Columbia Did not visit port

Been there several times. If we had arrived in daylight I think I would have gone off the ship to walk around. Again, arriving at 8pm and leaving at midnight does not encourage me to leave the comfortable ship.

Disembarkation

I really liked that the passport check was done indoors. It made for a quick exit to baggage claim.
