Review summary

Overall a great cruise with fun excursions at each port. I would have preferred more entertainment options while on board. I was a little disappointed with the overall food quality this trip and didn't think all the speciality dinning restaurants were worth the uncharge. While my overall experience and interaction with staff was good, when we actually did have an issue I was very disappointed in how it was handled (simple problem took too long to address and no one seemed to have any authority so I never understood why they kept bringing in new parties who couldn't do anything).

Embarkation

There was a slight medical delay from the previous sailing, but it was handled very well. The terminal was comfortable and the process was fast and smooth.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
I didn't think the food quality was up to NCL's reputation for this cruise. We also had an unpleasant experience at one of the speciality dining restaurants. The food was good but there was some confusion about our dining package/reservation. It should have been an easy fix, but we spent 30 minutes explaining to 3 different levels of managers. No information was passed along so we had to start from scratch each time and no one had any authority to address. It was eventually resolved but it was a very frustrating experience.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
I would have liked more options in on-board activities. There are plenty of places to go but not much going on.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
More and better music would have been nice throughout the day/night. I would also have liked more comedy and stage options. Basically one of each which give one or two nights of options at best.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everybody (almost) was great. In general I found the staff to be helpful and courteous. The only minor exception was at the bars. Some bartenders were much more skilled than others (drinks were inconsistent). One bartender in particular just didn't seem happy to be there. She was put off when you asked questions or ordered anything other than their basic selections.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Loved the ship. The racetrack and observation deck were particular favorites of the family. I also liked that this ship did a better job than others of separating the smoking sections.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Hey, it's a cruise room. They're just not that big but this was adequate, comfortable, and clean.

Ship tip

I know it's already an expensive trip but be prepared to spend more while on board. Internet, speciality dining, and excursions are all upgrades (along with the arcade and some ice cream/coffee shops).

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

We spent a couple of days in the south beach area before the cruise and had a great time. Food and people were awesome but be very careful in the boutique hotel selections.

Great Stirrup Cay (Cruise Line Private Island), Bahamas

We ended up enjoying this more than expected. I didn't think we would like just walking around a beach but it was actually quite relaxing and would spend more time here next time.

Disembarkation

We got in line early and were quickly off the boat and in a cab. I was expecting much longer waits.
