Review summary

Heck of a first cruise. While I don’t have anything to compare it to, I definitely will be doing another.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Everything went smoothly. Arrived at the port at about 1130. Never really stopped moving until on the ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
It won’t be confused with Michelin starred food but certainly was good. Feeding all the passengers in a several hour window is a huge task but we never had to wait on a table. Food was always hot and was out to us in an acceptable time.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
We aren’t drinkers and don’t have kids. So our activities were limited to the evening entertainment (Choir of Man lived up to the hype) and the “game shows” in the atrium. We tried a couple of the seminar type things. They are nothing more than sales pitches.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone was very friendly and willing to help. Even the maintenance guys who aren’t really hired to be customer facing personnel were very pleasant. As someone who works in a service industry the people make the difference. I was impressed.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Very clean. Always saw someone cleaning, touching up paint, etc.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Everything was great except choices on TV. We like to fall asleep to something and there wasn’t much at all to choose from.

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington

Juneau, Alaska

Rented a car through Turo. Drove the one road out of Juneau. Beautiful trip and cheaper than an excursion.

Skagway, Alaska

5 out of 5
Eagle float trip was awesome. Saw probably 20 bald eagles. Great guides. Well worth it and something besides the crowds. Only 6-8 people per boat.

Cruise Glacier Bay

KETCHIKAN (WARD COVE), ALASKA

Souvenir and tourist town. Really nothing too interesting to me here.

Victoria, British Columbia

What little we could see of the city, it was beautiful.

Disembarkation

I can’t fault the crew. People are just knuckleheads. Listen to the crew. They aren’t trying to create problems.
