Review summary

Overall the cruise was fun. We would have had a better experience if we didn't have 4 people from our group of 6 get Covid. We all wore masks and washed our hand consistently. The only reason my wife and I didn't get Covid was because we still had immunity from having Covid in late February. NCL needs to put better protocols in place to insure their passengers health. I know passengers from certain US States don't believe in Covid, but their ignorance should not be to our detriment. The worst part of the experience was the bus ride from the Port of LA to LAX. The gentleman siting across from us, had full blown Covid and did nothing to protect us. He as coughing, spitting, hacking and blowing his nose for the whole bus ride. REALLY?

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We didn't pay extra for our meals. The specialty dinning was way too expensive. All of the food in the general dining rooms was good.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Fitness classes were good, but again at a very high price for a 40 minute class.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
All of the entertainment was good. Choir of Men and the Beatles tribute band were great. The volume at most of the theater events was way too high. This may be due to the crowd being over 70 and with hearing loss.

Children's Programs

No kids.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All of the onboard staff were great.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
In general, the ship was clean, and all but one area of the design was bad. The theater should not be below the staterooms. We complained about the drum noise that came from the theater after 10:30 PM, and were moved to another cabin. With 7:15 excursion meetings the next morning, this made it very difficult to sleep before 11:30 PM.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
We started in cabin 8744 and were moved to 12866 after we complained about the night drum noise from the theater below. Room was clean.

Ship tip

If you are concerned about Covid exposure, you may want to think twice about cruising. The only mitigation for Covid was the hand santizers.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Cabo has really changed of the worse. Access to hotels on the Pacific side was for guest only. A few years ago all of this was accessible. Too may vendors trying to sell you stuff. :-(

San Pedro (Los Angeles), California

No excursions.

Disembarkation

2 out of 5
This process was way too disorgainized. Even though we had a set time to leave the ship, it took 2 hours to get through the customs station. There must be a more efficient way to do this.

Always look at the ship layout before booking a cabin. Best bet is to ensure you get one that is surrounded on all sides (including above and below) by other cabins.
