Very bad itinerary. Nice ship. However, there was a lot of issues on the ship - miscommunication, long lines to get things done, etc.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Got to the ship early and were in first group
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
For a large ship, except for the buffet, there were no crowds. Drink package has changed and we were disappointed on wine selections. They want you to pay for upgrade which we did not.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Weather prevented outdoor activities so we did not use anything.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Entertainment was good, however, somewhat repetitive. Venues were small so they were very crowded as everyone wanted to be there.
Children's Programs
No children
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
People on the ship were genuinely happy to assist.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Easy to navigate for a very large ship.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Mini suite is always wonderful because of the large bathroom. However we did not meet our cabin steward until the LAST day, so was unable to make any requests. If we wanted extra towels, etc. we had to take them from carts in the hall way.
Ship tip
This Alaska Itinerary was an extreme disappointment. 3 days at sea, 3 ports (one was cancelled & changed) and very short time in ports - one port 2-1/2 hours, one port 5 hours, and the port with absolutely nothing to do 15 hours.
This was the only excursion that went as planned. However, in hindsight, if I knew this would be the only port I would have chosen a different excursion.
Cruising only thru Glacier Bay - no options to get off ship. Was pretty and ship spent time for us to see glaciers, sometimes spinning around so all decks could see.
Berth is 30 minutes outside of town. Only 5 hours in port. Had an outside short excursion however, it was cancelled because of fog and we scrambled to do anything else. Found a local company to take us by van around area but had to pay them extra to take us back to ship as there was no time to wait for shuttle. It was a hassle.
2 1/2 hours in port. 8:00 PM to 10:30 PM. Dark and nothing to do. 20 minutes away from town. Paid for a shuttle to get us to town, they dropped us off in bar and restaurant area. We wandered around for 30 minutes and then stood in line to get back on shuttle to ship.
We have had itinerary changes frequently in Alaska, even before covid. Not much you can do about it. Twice were medical emergencies, just grateful it wasn't us.
Thanks for the review. It’s always important to review the port times when booking a cruise. Try a one-way cruise between Vancouver and Alaska for a better experience
