Review summary

I always have a great time on vacation - and this was no exception. In general I feel that cruising and especially cruising on NCL is a great Value. It may be worth mentioning - that we also had our mothers join us - and that worked out well - cruising as everyone can choose to cruise at their own speed. Quality and Price both meet our needs and it's easy to book. This cruise offered some exceptional ports of call that we don't often get to and 2 that we had never visited before - so that was the primary reason for picking this particular cruise. We enjoy the beverage package on board and the ship and dining options just as much. The price had gone up since our first look so we ended up down grading our room from OV to interior and doing that we still got everything we needed and stayed within our budget. For us the room is not that important, and we get some of the best sleep in an interior room. With some cut backs on NCL (like no towel animals and a few other small things); I'm happy to say the staff was not one and found the bar staff to be better and in general thought it was faster service that previous cruises. We already have our next cruise booked. Cheers & Happy Sailing.

Embarkation

There was a hold up "computer issue" so things were slower than normal

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Everything was great.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We enjoyed the pools, hot tubs and the fitness center.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Entertainment was great but if there are 3 shows that are 5* in a 7 day cruise there still only 3, 5* shows on a 14 day.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Great group this cruise - My favorite bartenders / waiters from the oasis pool bar are: Ele (nickname), Made, & Siopi

Ship Quality

I like the Dawn, layout etc - is very comfortable. The t-rex swim area seems like a waste of space and some of the carpets need repair on the stairs but I understand it's already in the plans to update the ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
great for our needs. In the bathroom and walls I'd suggest they have more towel bars and other built in hangers so people can hang towels and or swim suits etc why not better utilize blank wall space. The safe was broken but we had no issues.

Ship tip

Any cruise not just dawn - I'd say bring insulated mug - so drinks stay cool - especially during the day on the pool decks.

Ports of call

Tampa, Florida

I love cruising from this port - nice and easy! I have family 30 min away, so extra convenient.

George Town, Grand Cayman

been here before - never been my favorite so Im saving my 5* for other islands ;) but it's still very nice more stores were closed / out of business this visit but we just went to the beach nearby

Oranjestad, Aruba

Kralendijk, Bonaire

One of my favorites!! Parrot fish right of the port - easy walk on walk off cutest shopping village right off port we walked to boat shuttle all of 2 minutes and went to little bonaire - windy but beautiful!

Bridgetown, Barbados

Beach day - are you sensing a theme lol walked to the beach - was a sunday so all shops were closed but beaches were nice some of the beach vendors are a little pushy.

Castries, St. Lucia

took a cab to beach - I would not recommend the beach near the airport - ironically that was recommended to us and we had the driver - keep going- ended up at a beautiful beach

St. John's, Antigua

One of my favorite Islands - we rented a car and went to 12 of the 365 beaches the island has to offer plus a few sights.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

we did an island bus tour excursion here - to get my mother in law 85 yr old, off the ship - tour that went to both french and dutch side of the island - we had the worst driver "hassle" - every word out of his mouth was general useless info - like a gossip channel - any time we asked a specific question he said i don't know that. lol - it was ridiculous! ie - he says that is the highest point on the island, how high - idk "" oldest church. How old - crickets lol. Also the island had been hit pretty hard by the last hurricane and is still not recovered. - unfortunately rain prevented us from going to beaches later that day but I'm sure they would have been beautiful.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

walked through old town and took a tour of the fort, and then the beach- absolutely beautiful. great fish, great streets murals, I was very impressed this time as my last memory was from over 10 years ago and from that trip it was not good, I'm glad to have a new improved opinion of this port - only issue was we didn't have enough time and had to leave at 2pm

Disembarkation

super fast and easy.
