Ship is too Big by ghoyas

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

The NCL Breakaway was too big a Ship for our liking. We stayed in the Haven Suites which was very nice and highly recommended if you go on this Ship. You are away from the masses of people. You have your own private dinning area, lounge,  pool and deck areas. Once you leave this sanctuary you have to deal with thousands of people with no space to breathe. The service in the speciality restaurants was below average. They rushed you and we're not at all attentive.also the quality of the food has declined in my opinion. We saw two shows that were enjoyable, Rock of Ages and Burn the Floor, a dance presentation. All in all I like much smaller ships

Fantastic Beverage Package by KenFXS

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

What an excellent cruise to Bermuda. More than plenty activities to do on board. Staff was unquestionably the most receptive ever and the food throughout the ship was 8 pounds well worth the upcoming effort to remove.  But the shining star was the Ultimate Beverage Package which made this cruise truly all-inclusive.

Great Vacation! Wish we had More Time!! by cricket62170

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

We had a wonderful time. From booking our trip through BJ's travel to disembarking everything was very easy.  We loved that we were docked in BERMUDA for 3 days. The NCL BREAKAWAY had plenty of things to do and we couldn't get them all in! Making a list for next time!  Food was very good and offered a variety of foods for everyone. Moderno, specialty restaurant was top notch. Good food and service.   The temperature of the food at the buffet and a few other restaurants could've been hotter.

The photos taken both aboard the ship and at destination were really nice, however the cost was pricey.

The only other drawback was the fitness center was a crammed in the free weight area and it became difficult to work out with multiple people in a small area.

Great staff at the Atrium bar too!

All in all we had a wonderful time and can't wait til we book our next trip on NCL!

Nice ship but overcrowded by kvpoolside

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

Ship was nice but overbooked and overcrowded. We were unable to make reservations at the specialty restaurants unless we wanted to eat at the last seating. Most nights we sat at 9:30 one night we sat down for dinner at 10 pm..

Because of this late seating we were not able to catch the shows that started at 9

Fun Time by april2091

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

Had a wonderful time on NCL Breakaway, lots to do daily, fun parties in the evenings, the food was good, the shows were very good, especially the dinner/theatre show. Bermuda is Beautiful and it really is a bonus to be docked there 3 days. No complaints what so ever, we had a mini suite with a small balcony for four, nice size bathroom. Would recommend to allBig Smile

Review Norwegian by rvillucci

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

The ship and staff were fantastic.  The shows were excellent.  Rock of Ages, Second City Comedy, Burn the Floor all worth seeing.  Also, the dueling piano bar was a great place.  The SPA was exceptional.

Don't like freestyle and ship to big by MamaPeck2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

We did not care for the large ship experience or the freestyle experience. The ship was clean and in good repair but its to big. The number of people make it difficult to enjoy many of the amenities they offer. Everything cost extra and is pretty pricey. We had 2 rooms, 1 with extra large balcony which was nice but we couldn't use it to much. Didn't like the fact everyone above can see below because of the way they are payed out.

Bermuda! by tomnmo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

Overall this was a nice vacation.  I really liked being in one port for three days.  Bermuda is much nicer than the Bahamas.  Definitely go to Horseshoe Bay beach.  Don't be scared away by people saying it's too busy.  It wasn't nearly as busy as I expected (those people have obviously never been to the Jersey shore on the weekend).  We didn't go there until after lunch and we found a spot right at the water with plenty of room.  The food was amazing and they were able to accommodate our gluten free needs perfectly.  Ivo, an assistant Maitre D' in Savor was superb.  The shows were amazing and the dueling pianos were very good.  I can only come up with one negative - the seats in many areas are very uncomfortable:  the theater seats were the worst I've ever tried - they have some kind of metal bar across the seat right where you're supposed to sit, the seats in the Headliner's club are hard wooden chairs, the beach loungers are hard to get comfortable in.  But, overall I would do it again.

Best cruise ever! by jacobmortera

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

My wife and I were very impressed with NCL's breakaway. We are veteran cruisers and cruise 4 times yearly with RCCL and are loyal to the company, well we took the NCL because we attended my good friends weeding and New Jersey, so we decided to take a cruise to Bermuda, but there were no RCCL leaving from nyc, so we went with NCL, that ended up to be the best decition we ever made. The ship was amazing! Employees, Entertainment, food, cabin as well as the activities. We will definitely be cruising with NCL after our cruise in oct 31 with RCCL that was planned & booked already right after we got back from our last cruise. We would like to also give credits to bookit.com for giving us a great vacation options on our past and recent booking experience with all our travel needs, bookit makes it always fun and pleasant when we are searching for our next getaway...

Awesome Time by millietorres624

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

Awesome time! Restaurants are great. Lot of bars. But, this ship needs a larger or additional pool as the top deck has no pool or shower. The main and only pool is always crowded. A pool bar would be ideal. But will consider again.

Great vacation but... by feeney421

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

This was overall our 14th cruise and 3rd with NCL.

PROS:  the ship was beautiful, clean, well maintained and had lots to do. The food was good, but not extraordinary the employees friendly and there were plenty of things to do.  There was a ropes course, a mini golf course, rock climbing wall, people size chess game, video games, trivia contests, pool games and much more.  You could be busy all day or not at all.   We liked the comfortable dress attitude, however, when we tried to make a reservation for dinner for our large group we were told that the reservations for the night were filled.  Each night due our size - 8 - we had to wait for dinner.  JULIE the Cruise Director was fabulous, she even jumped in on some of the dance shows.  Fireworks on the open ocean - really cool.

ICE BAR:  Gotta go just so you can say you did!!  Really cool and really cold!!

CONS:    Overall my husband and I felt that they were trying to fit TOO MUCH stuff on the ship.  The hallways were barely wide enough for the workers cart and one person - two people could not walk side by side down any hall.  WE had a balcony room and felt the set up could be better - the space between the closet door and the bed was approximately 18 inches.  NO LOBSTER night - my children were very disappointed.  NEVER saw my room steward--dirty cups were never removed.  POOLS:  Were small and there were only 2 of them.

better than i expected by rosie117

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

the ship is magnificent and with all the freestyle restaurants i can never go back to dining on a cruise ship any other way.  everything ran so smooth with booking ahead of time.

the only drawback was the pool is way too small (if you want to call it a pool).  you can't really swim in it and when it's hot that's what you feel like doing

My review by dbllny

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

I thought the cruise was enjoyable. I thought that the cruise line nickeled and dimed everything by charging for a show. I thought there was poor organization for example I made show reservations pre cruise which were changed which caused dinner reservations to be changed. The ship was very nice but the difference between 3200 passengers and 4000 passengers was a big difference for me causing areas to be full.

Norwegian Breakaway 06 14 to 06 21 by salighter

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

Overall good experience onboard ship and in port of Bermuda.

Cons: Too many smoking areas in key areas, casino, poolside, outdoor seating of restaurants on the walking deck.. Uncomfortable seats in the Breakaway theater, too little seating at Shakers and Atrium.

Pros: Crew was terrific, shows great, Music system too loud. No problem getting into restaurants, food good.

Wish I took Celebrity...I've been robbed by pastorgia97

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

I disliked having to pay extra for good food that you would normally receive on Royal Carribean or Princess in the dining room.  I disliked having to pay extra to use the gym and  spa facilities. On such a big ship with only a few hot tubs and one pool(unless you include the kiddie pool) that is just tacky to charge for usage. The shows and entertainment were very good but again I had to pay extra for things that are normal on other lines. Antiqued approach of swiping for everything so that a surchange can be applied even for "free" things. Just tacky norweigan. Why can't we either tip in the beginning or at the end like Royal Carribean? I did also like the excursions as they were very well organized and informative. (I went to Horseshoe beach and the crystal caves)

best part of the cruise - cruise director, rock the ages show, the second city comedy show every night, bingo, deal/no/deal

food - the regular free food - at a couple restaurants and buffet are not so good. but the speciality restaurants are amazing.

advice - get the all you can drink package.

Too crowded & the money maker cruise by dd502

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

I found the ship to nickel & dime you for everything. We buy the soda package and have to pay for water. We had to pay for pastries and gelato.  On other cruise lines never had to pay. Also the amenities area was small. That's because they wanted more rooms.  The room was nice the balcony was very small.  Also they kept changing my reservations that I made months in advance. I've been on NCL before and it wasn't like that.  It was a money ship and lack luster.  They just wanted to pack them in.  The food in Ocean Blue was terrible and we had to pay extra  for some items.  The food itself could have been better. We couldn't get into some shows.  They were over crowded.
