Review summary

We did not care for the large ship experience or the freestyle experience. The ship was clean and in good repair but its to big. The number of people make it difficult to enjoy many of the amenities they offer. Everything cost extra and is pretty pricey. We had 2 rooms, 1 with extra large balcony which was nice but we couldn't use it to much. Didn't like the fact everyone above can see below because of the way they are payed out.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food was ok. Not bad but not spectacular. The dining room was best. The cafe was a lot of the same choices every day.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
We had 4th of July fireworks and they lasted all of 5 minutes. Everyone seemed expectant that there were more. We played putt-putt and that was a very nice green. You had to wait for your putters for about 15-20 min but not to bad.

Entertainment

1 out of 5
Any of the entertainment was difficult to attend because the gathering locations were to small and there was no room. Also most of the activities were an extra cost. They had a cupcake decorating I wanted to take my granddaughter to but it costed $39 pp. for 1 cupcake.

Children's Programs

3 out of 5
We attended a few of the kids family programs. They were not very crowded and not heavily attended. Some of the music was not appropriate for kids.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
We had a great cabin steward! He was very attentive and he made new towel animals every night for our grand-daughter. Sometimes he would put them in funny locations. Once he hung a monkey from the curtain. We had a really nice woman server in the dining room the 2nd night and tried to have her every other night and they had her at small tables so we couldn't be seated with her. The ladies by the door of the garden cafe were funny. They sprayed your hands with hand sanitizer and sang little songs. "Washy-washy, Happy-happy". Sometimes they had a guitar and tambourine and were so playing.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Cleanliness was very good. Design was not well thought out for the number of people.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Roomy, clean, large bathroom (something we have never had on a ship) the complimentary breakfast with room service is very small and the $7.95 cover charge for anything else is not worth it.

Ship tip

To big and not well laid out. The focus seems to be on dining options that cost extra. Free dining areas are small. We tried to make reservations for our group of 7 and they said we didn't need them. We got to the dining room and there was a 45 min wait. We ended up going to the cafe. ;(

Ports of call

New York, New York

3 out of 5
Expensive to park. We parked at the airport for cheap and took a shuttle and taxi. Going was so simple. Leaving was difficult because the terminal staff sent us upstairs with all our bags and the taxi driver wouldn't pick us up. We finally found a driver who would pick us up.

why didn't you use your balcony? I'm taking a cruise on the Breakaway next year and I have an extra large balcony and I would like up know if there any issues. Thanks

I guess that a smaller ship is what you should book next time.  I was in Bermuda two years ago and loved it.
