Cruise to Bermuda by jfinnen46

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

This was our second trip to Bermuda on the Norwegian Breakaway, and we would go a third time. Bermuda is absolutely stunning and the people are incredibly warm and friendly. Lots to do and see while in port. Norwegian entertainment is the best! Broadway shows, Burn the Floor and Rock of Ages are amazing as are the other musicians that play throughput the ship. 22 Restaurants and tons of other activities. Ships staff treat you like family.

I rather have more days in Bermuda than on the Breakaway. by bmarks2484

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

The ship itself is huge. The rooms were clean but I think there are too many rooms and not enough to do on the ship. Unless you had a reservation, sit down and premium restaurants were overcrowded with waits. The buffet would shut down a side every time which would overcrowd the side serving meals. The premium dining rooms such as Cagneys, Moderno Churrascaria, and  Teppanyaki Restaurant were excellent. I highly recommend them. There was an awesome rope course but it was only open at certain times (even on nice days) which lead to overcrowding. They did have an "Escape Room" which wasn't a room but it was still entertaining. We were unable to make a Spa appointment on day 2. Probably the only saving grace on this ship was beverage package the Maltings Bar. The staff there was excellent and remembered who I was from day one. The only reason I'm giving this review a good is because I enjoyed Bermuda so much. So if you want to go to Bermuda and don't mind being bored at sea then this cruise is for you.

Very good...very satisfied!! by ddurante7915

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

The best is the freestyle cruising. When cruising with multiple people freestyle dining makes decisions so much easier. Rowena my stateroom person was wonderful and guest services also super friendly and helpful. And I also loved the adult beverage package, ease of mind while on vacation. However I really feel that with the cost of the cruise that there should be free options of room service in the evening. I traveled previously with 10 developmentally disabled adults that would close the club and come back to the room looking forward for the free pizza or burger at 3am. Also I found that the games were expensive...$5.00 for bowling and the video games...adds up when you have more than one child and they don't just play one gameNervous. But overall we were very satisfied.

Ncl breakaway to Bermuda by DonnaLynne

We had a very good time! There is so much to do, we didn't have enough time to try everything.

The staff all were very pleasant and friendly.

The entertainment was great!

Plenty of food day or night.

The only complaint I had was ,we had the beverage package  and sometimes it was hard to find soda. But we managed and it didn't ruin our trip.

We had a terrific time and I can't wait to cruise again!

Worst vacation every by rpaltooram845

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

We had the worst vacation experience ever. My entire family ended up getting sick with food poisoning, which the ship tried to say was a "gastrointestinal infection." Then, they hit us with a medical bill of $3600. We have requested a refund. Never again will we vacation with Norwegian.

Breakaway experience by kellerlion69

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

Was a very nice trip. More food, drinks and people then you can handle.. I was just disappointed with the entertainment available. With all the money one pays for a cruise you would think that little minor things would not have charges. Like the pool table $2.00 per game, video games also had charges and they were NOT $.50 each game either they were pricey. Shouldn't that be free??? Shows also if you want them they had charges. I have been on other cruises and have never been charged for night shows before or after dinner. To say the least smaller night clubs for different ages groups would have been nice instead of everyone hanging out in different hallways with pianos and music.Small room with tables and chairs for listening, drinking and a bit of dancing would have been nice. TOO MUCH TIME ON SHIP WITH NOTHING TO DO was my greatest disappointment..Otherwise everything else was great. FORGOT 1 LAST BIG DISAPPOINTMENT. I ASKED THEM TO RECOGNIZE THAT IT WAS MY  20TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY ON BOARD TO SURPRISE MY HUSBAND AND IT NEVER HAPPENED..Sad

Bermuda Cruise by Ednviv

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

Went to the specialty restaurants and they were great. My Room Steward was wonderful always knew when we were out so that he can make the beds in the morning and night.  This is our 5th time on the Breakaway and the shows got a bit competitive since we saw the same ones 4x already; NLC need to have other shows on the Breakaway.

Tons a fun by newmanw27

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

Amazing cruise with a great vibe. Food and entertainment were incredible. We've been on other NCL cruises, this was our first on the breakaway. It was a poorly designed ship that was always too crowded . We could not wait to get off the ship. Felt like we were on a floating mall , while on other ships you did not notice the crowds and felt more spread out.

First time cruising as a family by GinaMYoung

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

We are looking forward to cruising again soon! This was a great way to spend a family vacation. There is so much to do on the ship. My kids loved the Splash Academy and didn't want to leave! When it was time to leave after our week was up my kids wanted to know why we couldn't just live on the ship! I will definitely be making plans to cruise again soon.

Good time by dgdm641

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

Enjoyed relaxing vacation. Enjoyed fair to good food. La Cucina was excellent. If i cruised this ship again, I would dine here numerous times. Cagney was very enjoyable, Moderno was a disappointment-was looking most forward to that. Circa show was enjoyable but extremely rushed for the meal. So much so, i would need to give it a thumbs down. I suggest making this a show only. Buffet had excellent variety with average quality--nothing special

Excellent ship--nice variety

Bathrooms near pool need more attention

overall experience  Good

Overall a great trip by lindadbaker2002

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

This was our 3rd trip to Bermuda, the second time on the Breakaway.  This time, I traveled with 2 sisters and 2 daughters.  We got a pretty good price on a family oceanview stateroom on Deck 5, that worked really well for the five of us. (A special thanks to Kathy Trefelletti at , who was patient with several plan changes, knowledgeable, reliable, and gracious to work with.)

Our stateroom was perfect, and our steward Bryan friendly, and always willing to be helpful.  Early on, we asked for a egg crate mattress pad for the sofa bed, which made it more comfortable. I was pleasantly surprised by the ample closet space and the size of the bathroom.  The beds were comfortable, and the room was not noisy.  We were across from the medical center, which was quiet that week.

Since we went in May, there were a number of children, but probably not nearly as many as June through August.  We weren't bothered by the kids, and had no trouble finding lounge chairs on the deck, or any long waits to get into the restaurants.  We liked the food in all the main dining rooms and the buffet, but were disappointed that the Uptown Grill had been replaced by an added fee restaurant.

So, we were very satisfied with accommodations, cleanliness, meals, activities, staff, and even the embarkation and debarkation, though the latter did take a little while.  The one place that I think there is room for improvement is the entertainment.  Having done this cruise in 2015, it was a bit disappointing that the evening entertainment was exactly the same.  We did enjoy Burn the Floor and several Second City improvs,  but did not enjoy Rock of Ages.  It was well enough done, but raunchy and not interesting. It seems a family friendly ship could find a better Broadway show.  Once again, the movies were at inconvenient times, often late at night.  It would be an improvement if there were more evening entertainment options, and if there was more room in the Atrium, where Alvin and Emily were often singing. We really really liked the Broadway singer, and would have enjoyed more shows like that.

This was no fault of the cruise, but we unfortunately had cooler and windier weather than our last two trips.  This meant that our trip to the Horseshoe Bay was not as nice as the past, and that the ropes course and mini golf were closed a couple times due to high wind.  With the upper deck closed, we had to work a little harder to find  things to do, and we were glad we brought some games with us.  A little sad, but by no means disastrous and  Bermuda continues to be beautiful and friendly.

I think we would consider doing this cruise again, but probably not in two years. I think we got good value for the money, and we enjoyed the trip, just not quite as much as last time.

good cruise by dbarry

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

This was a fun time, it is nice to leave out of Manhattan & not have to fly!

Overall staff were friendly, but not exceptional!

Did the rising sun catamaran & the guys that run it were super friendly! However there were no fish so if you want to snorkel & see sea creatures I would take a different excursion!

Very dissatisfied by sammilou2240

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

Was very dissatisfied with our cruise all of the activities were things to get you to buy stuff nothing was really fun and outgoing the food was okay I was very upset that the dining room that they had for free have the exact same menu but listed different types of food that they would sell when you read the menu they were the exact same nothing was different on top of it even though our room service cleaning lady was very very nice we only received one towel animal and I found out that you get a towel animal every night of your cruise also Carlos Bakery is no longer there that is one thing I was really looking forward to and they took it out last year the Margaritaville Bar that they have in there that claims to be Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville was so stupid it didn't even have any kind of excitement that you would think of when they have Margaritaville the casino ripped you off you don't win anything ever tons of people were losing money nobody was making any money Bay over serve alcohol to all the young kids so all they're doing is getting drunk and obnoxious whatever happened to the 15 limit of night they gave like 30 or 40 so people were acting retarded. If you wanted a late night drink like juice or coffee forget about it if you were a smoker you had to walk all the way to the cafeteria to get a coffee first thing in the morning instead of it being conveniently right by you the adult only side of the ship was very lousy the hot tubs were always full they had no swinging hammock or anything relaxing to sit on to enjoy yourself all of the drinks are pricey and they didn't even have any kind of souvenir cups that you would want to buy to go into your drinks I don't think I will ever cruise on Norwegian Breakaway again

The crew make the experience great by myakey

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

Not our first time on the Breakaway, so we already had ideas of what we wanted to do on the ship and what we wanted to avoid. The crew onboard make all the difference between a good trip and a great trip and this was a GREAT trip. I love so much about this ship and this itinerary, my only two issues with the whole experience is this: The smell of smoke from the casino permeates the casino and the area's around it- above and below- yuck! I bring my family on cruises too so in no way is this a slight on families, but it would be nice if either Taste or Savor were kids 10+ or something like that. 4 nights at dinner (one a specialty restaurant) we were placed next to screaming children with parents that did not do anything about their screaming children running around like it was the Hunger Games. I have 3 kids, i understand, I truly understand, but parents deserve a vacation too sometimes so it would have been nice to go to restaurant and not be surrounded by children running around, crying, and bumping into the hardworking waitstaff.

Other then that, we loved every minute. Great shows, great bartenders, our stewed was sweet as can be- we already booked the next cruise and we've only been home 4 days.

Returning Breakaway passengers by imanalto1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

This was our second Bermuda cruise on the NCL Breakaway.  The ship offers many amenities including specialty dining venues, numerous clubs, great entertainment and seemingly unlimited activities throughout the day & night.  Our special dietary needs received the proper attention, which made the week much easier (although we were a little disappointed that there were fewer No-Sugar-Added dessert choices this time than 2 years ago).

We were disappointed, however, that we were not included in the Latitudes party on board (we were included last year on the Jewel) as it was for members at silver level and higher.  When we returned home - fully expecting to now be silver-level Latitude members - we were further disappointed to learn that NCL changed the accrual requirements back in February!  We were never notified of this change.  Although we are devoted NCL fans, one of the reasons for continuing to sail with NCL was the (former) ease with which you could achieve higher levels.  Again, disappointing.

That said, we were very happy with our second Breakaway cruise and would recommend NCL and this ship to anyone!

Excellent cruise - particularly if you stay in the Haven by stephenstanback

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Breakaway / Destination: Bermuda

I have to say that the Haven on the Norwegian line is the best.  They offer the entire cruise experience, with a private bar, restaurant, lounge area and pool just for the Haven guests.  This offers areas where you don't have to deal with the crowds that you see on most cruises.  I highly recommend this cruise.
