Review summary

Overall, great experience. Book your transatlantic cruise for next year! I would do it all over again. The itinerary was fabulous!

Embarkation

3 out of 5
A lot of walking and waiting

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We went to two specialty restaurants multiple times. We ate our way through the menu during multiple visits to the French restaurant Le Bistro and ate seven times at the sushi restaurant Wasabi. Both places had excellent service, food, and drink. And a special shout out to the chefs at Wasabi.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
We read in what quiet places we could find. More quiet spaces are needed on this ship.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The venues were too crowded. Could not get a seat sometimes.

Children's Programs

No children were with me.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Room steward was great, bartenders were great, guest services were great and show an amazing amount of patience, and all waiters were great. Plus all of the unseen staff who perform their duties behind the scenes to make our cruise run smoothly.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
We liked the design of the ship. Easy to get around. Staff worked hard to keep common areas as clean as possible.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
This was our first oceanview room we have ever had. Usually have a balcony. We really liked the room and the picture window so close to the ocean on the 5th floor. It was a great way to view your cruise as you were sailing. Just make sure you configure your beds into two twin beds so you can easily walk up and look out the window.

Ports of call

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy Did not visit port

We just boarded the ship there but didn't take any tours.

Naples, Italy

5 out of 5
Great excursion and tour of Pompeii (Journey to Pompeii) arranged via Cruises Only. Tour guide was knowledgeable and thorough. Amazing experience.

Livorno (Florence & Pisa), Italy

5 out of 5
Another great excursion and tour in Pisa. We did the Pisa Transfer and Leaning Tower on Your Own via Cruises Only. This tour included going inside the Leaning Tower and it was amazing. If you visit Pisa, you must have a ticket to go inside the tower. Even if you only climb partway up and return to the bottom, it is the experience of a lifetime.

Cannes, France

5 out of 5
We got off the ship on our own and took the tender to shore. It was such a beautiful day and walking along the ocean side avenue in Cannes was amazing. We highly recommend stopping at a cafe or two to enjoy a pastry, coffee, or wine. We had one of the best pastries ever at La Vie en Rose and some rose wine.

Barcelona, Spain

5 out of 5
Just walk around and find some place to stop and sample the local cuisine We had the best baklava ever at an out of the way side street cafe. Don't limit yourself to the main boulevard.

Cadiz (Seville), Spain

5 out of 5
Just get off of the ship and walk. Grab a drink and a bite here and there. Don't leave until you have had a sangria. Also a hot chocolate and churros.

Lisbon, Portugal

5 out of 5
Our walking tour that was arranged through Cruises Only, Discover Lisbon on Foot, was very informative and beautiful. Our guide was awesome. Restrooms are sparse, so if you see one or need one ask the guide and they will direct you to one or know about one coming up. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes. There are a lot of unlevel walking surfaces and stairs.

Ponta Delgada, Azores Did not visit port

High seas and winds prevented us from docking in the Azores. Disappointed this happened because we were looking very much forward to this stop, but we understand that safety is the top concern.

Royal Naval Dockyard, West End, Bermuda

4 out of 5
It was only a "good" because we planned no tour and it was a Sunday. A few of the businesses and restaurants at the Royal Naval Dockyard were closed. Some of the other people we met on the ship had a great time on their tours though.

New York, New York Did not visit port

We disembarked in NYC and transferred to the airport.

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
We missed our flight at LaGuardia because the entire disembarkation and Norwegian transfer experience took way longer that advertised. I recommend anyone with an early flight get your own transfer or taxi at the port.

We have come in at the New York City port and the New Jersey port used by another cruise line. Even with the traffic, the New York port is better than the New Jersey port. Sounds like your trip was wonderful.

I agree with the port in New York. We disembarked there on November 19 and it was chaos. The way it is set up has everyone coming in and leaving at the same time on one small street.
