Review summary

Overall, we did have an enjoyable time while on the cruise. I like other cruises where we were able to schedule our dining times in advance and expected a much shorter dinner, allowing us to take part in more of the entertainment. They had the most talented singers throughout the ship than we have experienced on any other ship. We were surprised that they didn't enforce hand washing at the buffet, especially due to the number of people who were sick on the ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food was very good, but it took on average 2 hours to complete a meal in the main dining rooms and one night it was almost 3 1/2 hours. The buffet had the same menu during the cruise. The specialty restaurants we visited were very good, and the length to dine averaged around an hour.

Entertainment

On other lines we visited there were usually two shows a night in the main theater, on this ship there was only one. They had fantastic singers throughout the different venues of the ship.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff were wonderful on this cruise, even when we had to wait longer than expecting to dine the staff made sure we were taken care of.

Ship Quality

The floor that held the main dining room also hosted the casino. During the cruise this area was an indoor smoking section. You ended up smelling like smoke by the time you got to the dining room. The ship also had more diesel smoke coming from it than any other ship we saw, or I have experienced in the past. There were a couple of times we could not sit on the balcony because the wind was blowing the smoke into our room. We also had a couple of times when the inside of the ship also smelled like diesel due to the smoke of ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

The room steward was fantastic. Having the room in the front of the ship we did experience more movement during a storm than expected, rocked us right to sleep.

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

Naples, Italy

We did the excursion to Pomeii and felt like it was rushed at the dig site. The stop at the jewelry designer took too long for such a limited time trip.

Livorno (Florence & Pisa), Italy

Barcelona, Spain

This is a city where we could spend weeks trying to visit everything.

Cadiz (Seville), Spain

We considered this port a hidden gem where we walked around and visited many small shops around the city.

Lisbon, Portugal

We took the excursion to Fatima and felt like the time spent was appropriate for the activities we did there.

Ponta Delgada, Azores Did not visit port

The weather was too rough to dock at this port.

Royal Naval Dockyard, West End, Bermuda

We took the ferry and walked around the island. It was a nice walk, but not a place we need to visit again.

New York, New York

After the long disembarkation we were only able to go to the airport and wait for our flight. We woke up early to watch the statue of liberty while the ship went by. This was a fantastic experience.

It took over an hour standing in line to just get off the ship and another hour to go through customs.
